Hi There,

Just upgraded to v1.3.27 and I'm having that issue with Ajax validation again. The last time I had this was in v1.2.x. The validation error popup while typing the email address and sometimes it goes away after typing but sometime it does not and it's confusing users.

Please click on the Signup button on the top right to see what I am saying.

Thanks,

Jackson
Hi,

Yes, I've tested few times but it seems like work fine for me. Is it only happening on the email address validation field?

Hi Arlex,

Really? I don't know how to explain this to you but the JS is kind of clunky, like I said, sometimes it disappear sometimes it stays even though I entered a right email address. Tested this in FF, Chrome, and Safari. If I may suggest, why not trigger the validation after @ is typed or no .com/org/net/etc has been typed instead of when a user starts to type on the email or password fields.

Yes, it's happening with the Email address field only.

Arlex, I created a video screen shot: http://screencast.com/t/MlGH57ZpJ2C

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holiday for most us here. I noticed that in your video, you were using last pass. I am not really sure if that would be the cause because on your site, when I focus on the email or password field without typing anything, there's no validation occurring.

Hi Mark,

I also tried it in Chrome which don't have a LastPass plugin, the validation starts to run when a user actually starts typing. Is that how it was designed? There's nothing really wrong with the form Mark, it still let users register without a problem but I got reports from several users that they stop moving forward just because they're saying whatever email address they enter they get "The email your provided is not a valid email address". My answer to them is to ignore the message and just continue the registration.

Well I can choose to continue telling people to simply ignore it but it would be nice to not confuse people and will also make user feel confident that they are using a well built system.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

Yep, that's correct. It was designed to validate as soon as the user types and there's actually a slight delay before the activation kicks in.
