Hello,

on my Joomla (3.9) Installation i make a update from Komento 3.1.15 to Komento 4.0.2

After this Update, Komento isn't working (see attached screenshot) and only "Placeholders" will be load.
Tested on some browsers.

See on page: https://www.eu-schwerbehinderung.eu/index.php/33-aktuelles/11833-lambsdorff-ampel-koalition-soll-schroeder-annehmlichkeiten-streichen
Hi Klaus,

Can you try to replace the attached file with ../components/com_komento/views/comments/view.ajax.php and see if the issue fixed?

Sorry - It was 3.1.6 that we have installed before and that had worked.
If you can't fix this issue, please send me the old Install-Package an i will downgrade to older version 3.1.6, that work

Hi,

I checked on the URL mentioned above and the Komento form loaded fine for me: https://take.ms/vIRSg . I also go to other article with comment, it loaded correctly: https://take.ms/JdRIr . Did I missed anything? Let us know if you still need the installer of 3.1.6.

Hi Nick,

at this moment, we implement a workaround, so that komento 4.x works.

What we do is, we have the session cookie from joomla removed from caching and also removed komento from caching.

At this moment it works, but the loadtime from the side is not good.

The Version 3.1.6 didn't have this issue, so we think it was a bug of Version 4.x

Yes, please send me the full install package from 3.1.6 - we will back to older version and hope you will fix this issue.

Thanks and best regards
Klaus

Hello Klaus,

Attached is the 3.1.6 installer. By the way, I checked the loading time on this page for Komento section, it is quite fast.

https://www.eu-schwerbehinderung.eu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11841:lauterbach-strebt-gemeinsamen-impfpflicht-antrag-mit-der-union-an&catid=33:aktuelles#comment-363,0

May I know if there is a specific page that having this slow loading speed issue?

Hello,

fast? Okay - i have now the Config, we use on 3.1.6

if you check this link (please open on more than one System, to see the issue):
https://www.eu-schwerbehinderung.eu/index.php/33-aktuelles/11841-lauterbach-strebt-gemeinsamen-impfpflicht-antrag-mit-der-union-an

Can you fix it?

you see on Komento session that nothing will bel load, only placeholders:

<div class="o-placeholder-loader"> <div class="flex w-full"> <div class="flex-shrink-0 h-[40px] w-[40px]"> <div class="o-placeholder-box h-[40px] w-[40px] rounded-full"></div> </div> <div class="ml-md space-y-xs flex flex-grow flex-col"> <div class="o-placeholder-box w-11/12"></div> <div class="o-placeholder-box w-12/12"></div> <div class="o-placeholder-box w-9/12"></div> <div class="o-placeholder-box w-8/12"></div> </div> </div> </div>

Please, make the changes for your Session ID, back to Version 3.1.6, that has worked correct.
On this situation, we have must check if we can use komento in future, because next time we will change to Joomla 4.x

Did you tested Downgrade to 3.1.6?

Hello Klaus,

if you check this link (please open on more than one System, to see the issue):
https://www.eu-schwerbehinderung.eu/index.php/33-aktuelles/11841-lauterbach-strebt-gemeinsamen-impfpflicht-antrag-mit-der-union-an

- I think I know whats going on here. In Komento 4, we load comments using ajax. Once the page has been fully loaded, only then Komento will start fetching comments from the server. While comments are being fetched, we show the placeholder first. In Komento 3, those comments being loaded together with the page. I will create ticket for this and see if we could add option for user to choose whether to load comments using ajax or the legacy way.

Did you tested Downgrade to 3.1.6?
- I have not tried before. Do make a backup of your site before downgrade.

Hi,

that would be a solution.

However, I have an idea how other commenting tools do it. The comments are generally not loaded there and only the number of comments is shown. The users then have to click a button to comment, so that they can access the function at all.

Background: In systems with a high user load > 100 users per minute (like ours), the immediate loading of the comments causes an extremely high load on the database, which has a negative effect on the performance of the systems

Hello Klaus,

I did create a ticket for this in our tracker and our developer is still looking on the best way to implement this. If all good, this will be included in the next release.

Komento are not working.
- Did you mean Komento 3.1.6 I provided is not working?

Hello Klaus,

Our developer has completed the settings to disable Komento load on ajax. Is it okay if I implement it on your site and see if it really fix your issues? Or do you have any test site that we could use?

Hi Nick

Basically, we always do such tests on a test system. Unfortunately, this is not accessible from the Internet.

Perhaps you would like to send me the installation sources and I can then try it out on our test system?

Best regards

Hi Klaus,

If that the case, I would suggest you to wait for the next release to download the installer. Because building an installer with on going changes quite tricky.

Finaly - Your Modification didn't fix the issue with your session ID.

So with this Update (4.0.2), Komento isn't compliant with Joomla Cache, but on older Version 3.1.16, we did have this issue.

Temporary we have Komento disabled for "Guest", so if you want reproduce, you must enable on "ACL"

Hello Klaus,

Komento isn't compliant with Joomla Cache
- Do you enable Joomla Cache on your site? We had a ticket on this where users are having issue when Joomla Cache is enabled.

but on older Version 3.1.16, we did have this issue.
- Correct me if I am wrong here, you mean in 3.1.16 is having the same issue with Joomla Cache?

Please advise.

I won't create a ticket but will just follow this thread and look for a fix (hopefully in the next release). In the meantime, I've already disabled Komento.

-Rik: as workaround, we set the permissions on a level, so that the customer must be loggedin to make comments. That works, but many have reluctance to create an account just to comment.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks. We are currently working on it.

Hi Nik,

I also downgraded from Komento 4.0.2 to 3.1.6 and everything works fine.

1) Is 3.1.6 compatible with Joomla 4.x as we would like to upgrade Joomla soon (see attachment)?
2) It's been a month since your last message here. Any idea when we can see a fix to this issue?

Thanks. -- Rik

PS: The attachment is from the "Joomla Upgrade, Live Update" page.

- I am sorry but we are still working on it. We will be releasing Komento soon and hopefully this fix can be included.

Hello

3 month, i am still waiting for a fix, but the last Komento Update didn't fix the issue.

In the meantime I have to ask myself whether I can continue to use the product, because this error was not present in the 3.X version and fixing such serious errors should have the highest priority for a developer. But it hasn't, as the last update shows.

The error only occurs as a "guest" commenter. The reason is caching. However, caching cannot be disabled as there are so many users on the site that caching is required.

Caching was not a problem with Komento 3.X. So please: finally correct the error, because otherwise I won't be able to renew the subscription either.

Regards
Klaus

Hello Klaus,

We did fix the cache issue in the latest release. We need to check your site, maybe there is other issue that we missed.

I believe I am still able to access your backend with the previous credentials. However, can you provide us the full access to your backend so that we could see what is the configuration being used on your Joomla site?

Hello Klaus,

Thanks. I checked your configuration, you have the cache disabled: https://take.ms/g4TF3 . May I know which setting you used that causing the issue? Conservative or Progressive Caching? And I see that you have disabled comment for Guest. Is it okay if I temporary enable that to test this?

Hi Nick,

temporary for testing (to reproduce the issue) you can enable Komento for "Guest"

Pleace notice: If you change the ACL, you must clear the cache for the Artikel, you wil use for testing.
For more information, please contact me via E-Mail, because the Link to do that, i will not publish public.

Thanks and best regards

hey Klaus,

Just an update, after we checked a couple of weeks, we are still unable to find out a better solution to handle this if the site activates Progressive Caching since this will cache everything on the webpage which included the modules and the page header script tag (this script tag included the CSRF Token) as well, so caused this invalid token issue when a guest user trying to submit a new comment.

Then we realized that if switch to use Conservative cache, it seems like doesn't cache the page header script tag while the guest can able to adds new comment without hitting any error from what we tested several times locally.

May I know last time which caching method you use on your site? Perhaps you can give it a try to switch to using Conservative cache and see if you still hit the same issue again?

Remember clear your backend cache after you switch to use Conservative cache and monitor again.

Hi @Arlex

hmmm ... I don't quite understand your request now.
Komento made a few changes for me and now it seems to work despite the cache.

So my last question was to understand whether exactly the changes I made will be reflected in the next Komento version.

Best Regards

No problem, I will explain again.

Komento made a few changes for me and now it seems to work despite the cache.

I believe these were the changes you were referring to right? https://stackideas.com/forums/after-update-to-komento-4-02-komento-not-working#reply-576821

If yes, unfortunately, these fixes cannot include this into the core because this was just a temporary fix. So when you update to the next release version, these changes will revert back to the original code.

I've checked on your site backend, I noticed that you only activate this 3rd party cache plugin Pagecache - Visforms on your site right? And now no longer use Joomla default cache system?

If yes, would you mind sharing with us this Pagecache - Visforms plugin installer so I can pass it to our developer to investigate this if this is the only cache plugin you plan to use on your site?
