Hello SI Team

I did the 1.3.22 and it went OK.
Thing is that when I go to the ES component...
I am brought to the upgrade splash page and not the ES interface!
i.e. after upgrading I am being forced to upgrade again!

This does not seem to make sense.

Please advise

thanks

Paul
Confirming this happened to me as well. I didn't do the upgrade again... instead just logged off and on again and ES was fine and reporting itself as the latest version.

I hadn't got around to reporting it yet because it might be something that needs fixing so it doesn't happen again in future... so I'm really just saying it wasn't unique to your site.. happened to me too.

Hello Paul,

You did not proceed with the installation as the file /tmp/easysocial.installation still exists on the site. I have gone through the setup process and it works fine now.

After you upload the extension via Extension manager, Akeeba is removing the success message generated by our extension. You need to actually go through the setup process again to ensure that everything is up to date.

Hi Mark

I remember the Akeeba issues that I had over and over again.
100% sure that I disabled the Akeeba versioning thing before I did the upgrade…
Did this on the extensions manager page.
However I do notice that if I navigate away from the Extensions manager page and then back that the Akeeba versioning thing activates itself again automatically!
So maybe this is the problem?

Maybe I need to go into Akeeba itself and find some setting!?!

Am I correct in thinking that as of now I do not need to do anything until the next upgrade :-)

thanks as always

Paul

ps it is none of my business but do not let the trolls get to you

Hello Paul,

To be honest, I am not really sure what is Akeeba doing at the back end and I really have no idea why they are removing the "success" message of the extension but this is what you need to do.

1. Install it via extensions manager
2. If you do not see the proper success message, then just access EasySocial and you will get to the installation screen automatically. (We have enforced this so that you would not face issues like you had previously)
3. Finish the installation process and you are good to go!

Thank you very much for your support Paul! I am not really angry at all these comments they have been putting on the blog posts or forums but rather I am very sad. Why?

1. When your paying for your subscription, you not only get access to newer versions, you get access to our support! Most of the time, our support itself outweighs the price that you pay for the extension. I believe most of you have been receiving "minor customization" support from us and it is saddening to see that all these people are such feedback.

2. We are struggling this time around simply because EasyBlog 5 is something major and when i mean major, it's even bigger than EasySocial! The installer itself was close to 20mb (version 5) versus 3mb (version 3.9). Can you imagine how much work / overhaul that we have done? Why it needs to be done is simply because EasyBlog was outdated and we don't want to just "design a new interface" and call it a major version! We want to build something that will be used continuously by users on your site as this only gives value to you as a customer.

3. I have personally went beyond our support scope to assist most of you guys during the "happy days" of EasySocial 1.0 - 1.3 and apart from that, I have sleepless nights during these releases. There are ups and downs of every software release cycles, business and life. It's saddening to see that people throwing slanderous comments only when there is a downfall.

But yes, I am never going to give up and to all of our loyal supporters, surely I tell you that you guys are the pillar of this company and I will never forget this. After EasyBlog 5 is released, we are going all out on EasySocial and all hells will break lose.

Hello Mark

Thanks for the tips with respect to the install.

And yes thanks for the great products and the support which is simply the best on the planet.
It is a shame to take something like that for granted and then go AWOL!!!
It also saddens me to see people like “Guest - Alex ( Just logged out to post comment) “ doing what they do.
They really lower the tone of this otherwise fine community.

I think that Darren Knipe hit the nail on the head when he said:

“cos they are not having the dream social network built for them by other people for under $200 a yr are”….

I was tempted to jump in to the thread and say “Only a bad workman blames his tools” but refrained.

Wishing you a pleasant weekend and some time away from keyboard

best

Paul

Just chipping in... Mark, you are, always have been and always will be a total Rock Star legend (if that's lost in translation, it's a very good thing to be!)..... If you ever ever ever get time for a break there's always a sunny caribbean island here waiting to welcome you!

I think I had this issue also without having Akeeba backup. In my case I updated without the launcher. After the last step it redirected me to step 1. I proceeded anyways (this was done on my test site) and then broke out of the "loop". For my production sites I decided to install a new launcher and it worked perfectly fine without the double update mentioned here.

As for what Andy said, you are our Joomla hero. I still keep telling people that I work with some of the best guys in the software industry. Of course you guys are the ones doing the heavy lifting.

Hi Mark

For the record, I your instructions:

1. Install it via extensions manager
2. If you do not see the proper success message,

***I saw the install Step 1 Screen***

then just access EasySocial and you will get to the installation screen automatically. (We have enforced this so that you would not face issues like you had previously)

3. Finish the installation process and you are good to go!

My question is this my workflow from here on in?
Seems a little more like a work around to me than a workflow!
Just saying.

As always thanks for the amazing support

Paul
