I decided to post this as I've seen many more "knowledgeable experts" here and hope for some advice.

The quickest and easiest registration gets members into the door but it doesn't guarantee anything after.

There are 6 address fields and depending on what type of community you are building, not all fields are required.

Many people are not comfortable giving out personal details so let's say you set the City and State to required, visitors would be more comfortable entering that.

Problem is that the * next to the field still make it look like all fields are required.

That alone scares many people away.

I proposed that any field that is not required should be hidden but the idea was rejected.

Any tips?
Hi,

As replied in the issues, I will add a separate show configuration for each individual input in address field in the next version.

Hi Jason

Another approach is to highlight missing fields with a different color instead of a popup. For my example, if the visitor put something random in Address 1 and then click on submit, it will then show City and State boxes highlighted in red so they will know exactly what is missing and they don't have to guess which is required and which is not required. I was hoping other members in this forum would chime in with their ideas so we can improve but they must be busy bug hunting.

Hi,

As mentioned, I will be adding individual "show" options to the configuration for you to be able to set which field to show in particular.

In regards to the error, I just noticed that the error messages are not showing up in 1.2 beta. In 1.1.6, there are error messages showing up accordingly: http://cl.ly/image/1z3Z001w2z0a

This will be fixed in the next beta.

The options shown in http://cl.ly/image/3W3Y3Y171w2I certainly looks like it will cover majority of the communities for many people that will be building with ES.

Glad the highlighting error bug will be addressed. That definitely would have made it easier for testers to know which fields were missing.

Keep up the good work!!
