I have two custom fields
1. A multi dropdown list (with 4 options)
2. A multilist (with 4 options)

In Advanced Search, I add these items as filters. A dropdown box appears. However, I can only select one of the options. Is there a way to select more than one option?
Hello William,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

The multilist is used to add the search flexibility criteria for the users when they using advanced search. For example profile with list value "A" set from the backend can be easily searched by user when they choose the "A" selection from the multilist dropdown. Perhaps you can put the multilist title as "occupation" and set one of the value as "programmer". Hence when user registering into your site and select "programmer" from the multilist dropdown option, other user can easily searched the profile of the user from advanced search by using the multilist "occupation" custom field and choose "programmer" as search value. The possibility is limitless!

Hope I am clear enough with the explanation here.

Hello William,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Currently if it's a dropdown list, you can only select 1 option in the advanced search. However, you could actually add more criteria via the advanced search if you need to filter by multiple values.

Hello Mark --

I realize that I can add more search criteria, which is what I have done. However, I am attempting to simplify things for the user, if at all possible.

What is the purpose of the multilist if I am unable to make multiple selections within that list?

OK. I understand. I tested it. In the example of a single multi-list, during registration and profile editing, a user can select multiple items within that single multi-list, then save that information in their profile. In Advanced Search, for the example multi-list, the user can only select one of the listed items each time. It would be necessary to add Search Criteria if a user wanted to concurrently search on multiple items that are contained in a single multi-list.

It would be useful and more user-friendly if the Advanced Search would also allow the user to make multiple selections within a single multi-list Search Criteria. Please consider this for a future update of the Advanced Search facility.

Thanks for your help.
