Hi,
Can I embed a Widgetkit slideshow?
In Joomla article I would simply use the code editor to embed [widgetkit id="14"]

If I can, how? I see the 'code element' but I don't know how to test it before posting live.

(I have stopped writing this post, till you tell me what to do!)

Thanks, Robin
Hello Robin,

If Widgetkit uses a "content plugin" to replace codes and their plugin works with any extensions then it should work fine because EasyBlog does trigger content plugins in Joomla to perform these kind of modifications.

However, some plugins explicitly only allows com_content which is Joomla article's component. It depends on whether or not widget kit supports this.

P/S: It should be within the text block and not the code block. Code blocks are for "syntax highlighting".

Hello Mark,
There is a widgetkit plugin called 'Content - Widgetkit' which was anyway enabled. is this what you mean?

So I really can't tell if the code will work.

I have put the shortcode in my draft Blog post (it works ok in JCE Editor on Article pages)..

I tried pressing 'preview' in the Easyblog editor, but it didn't give me a preview. I've never known how to use this Preview button, and it would be extremely useful at this point! How does it work ?

thanks, Robin

Hello Robin,

Your browser is probably blocking the popup to preview the blog post. Try allowing popups on your site and try the preview.

Even though the plugin is enabled, there are instances where the plugins were coded to explicitly support Joomla articles only. I am not too sure about widgetkit though.

Hello Mark, You were right about popup blocking - thanks. I have created an 'exception - allow' in my settings.

But it is still not displaying the actual preview, though it does create a new tab.: I did this:

but get this:

What should I do?

thanks, Robin

Hello Robin,

Are you logged in on the front end? You need to be logged in on the front end to be previewing posts.

Hello Mark,
You were right, I needed to be logged in. I suspected there was something I'd forgotten.
I have discovered that the widgetkit shortcode embeds fine, but the component doesn't actually operate (slideshow.)
So I'll figure another way to do it.
Thanks for your help - and I'll remember to look through the documentation again!
Cheers, Robin
