The answer is that Calendar is an APP separate of event from where you cant actually start an event. Event by itself is a system features which creates an element which then copy an item inside the Calendar APP to show but there are no, unfortunately, link between the two. If you want an event, look into the event link from toolbar and not the calendar application.
