Hello SI team

I know this should be a no brainer.
In ES>E-Mails>Template Editor
I have a list of emails for different actions.

In my case I am interested in activating an email for a discussion.

So I go to this item here: "discussion.reply.php" and in the far right column I click on the red X where “modified” is.

I would have thought that this publishes this item and that I would get a green tick!

But instead what happens is that I am:

a) brought here ES>E-Mails>Activities.
b) When i navigate back here: ES>E-Mails>Template Editor the red X is still there!?!

What am I missing

thanks

Paul
Hi Paul,

The button is not meant to be clicked. Perhaps I should log this in our tracker to address this.

The icon actually turns green when an override for the email template is present in the email template file.

This can be achieved by editing an email template then save(http://take.ms/nZGDQ) or manually creating the override file in the correct location.

Hi Raymond

Ahhhhhh my bad. Sorry.

So they are all active by default and once the cron job works they all work right?

Also wondering if I am using the standard free ES Group Discussions App to emails get sent for discussions generated by this App?

thanks

Hey Paul,

If you mean the email templates, the default files are used by default and if there are override template files, then the override template files will be used.
Also wondering if I am using the standard free ES Group Discussions App to emails get sent for discussions generated by this App?
I believe the app has its own email template file.

Great thanks.

I believe the app has its own email template file.

Can you tell me where to activate it.

I have done extensive testing of discussion and have never received an email!!`

I see. My apologies as I was actually referring to the EasyDiscuss Group app.

For the default ES group discussions app, the email template files are at the template editor section. http://take.ms/GqxqN

Hey Raymond

No need to apologise, could have been clearer.

I have just posted here to a group discussion as "Demo Five" using the standard discuss group app:

https://www.finalbug.net/stream-social-learning

The title of the discussion is "Whoosh sound efxs to make my edit even better? "

So if I understand this correctly I should be:

Seeing this item turn up in the "Email Activities" in the back end.

This is not the case.

The test person does not get an email which I guess is logical seeing as how the mail does not end up in "Email Activities"

kindly advise

Paul

Hey Paul,

After checking your alerts, it looks like the following alert for group discussion is not published: http://take.ms/f3KE8

Perhaps you can try enable this and create another discussion. The notification emails should be generated then.

Hey Raymond

And the rabbit hole just got way deeper
If I activate that and post a discussion.

a) Will all user on the site be notified
b) Only people in the specific group where a "New discussion was posted"

thanks
