if I go to a non-existent page, ( site.com/2342343242sdfsdf ) - redirects me to homepage (ES) and gives code 200!
But I need to issue a 404 error..

If I set the home page standard Joomla page - all is good..
Hello,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

Hello,

Hm, I think I get what you mean here but unfortunately there's no real way to redirect here because when you access the dashboard area, it's for guests and I don't really see why you want to do throw 404 error though?

Any broken link leads to home, and does not give a 404 code .. I think it is not good.. ?

& If you take any Joomla component with access for guests - it does not redirect to home, he shows 404 page..

and how can I tell the user that this page does not exist? Just sending him to homepage - it may confuse him;) and I think it is wrong ..

For example - http://demo.stackideas.com/pagenotexist - go to homepage...

Hello darknemo,

The reason is actually because the /pagenotexist could actually be a "filter" and there's no way to really identify this

Hello,

There's no work around currently unfortunately because there's just too many possibilities of query string I will see what can be done for this but I don't think there's an easy work around though

Noted, I will see what can be done for this. Yeah, you can't add a 404 in htaccess because it's not really a 404.
