Hi support,

We ran into an error: "404 component not found" for EasySocial. This happened while we were not working on the backend of the site for many hours.

The last modifications we did took place around 5 hours before, when we installed Community Polls (from Core Joomla). 5 hours later the site's frontend was working normally until EasySocial went down.

In addition, we had CometChat developing team trying to do some custom work around the same time. We contacted them and we include their reply herebelow:

We are working on '/cometchat' directory. We have not modified files in any other directory other then CometChat on your server.

We have tested this issue by disabling CometChat on your site but still we are getting the same error.

Please ask your developer to look into this and please get back to us once the issue has been fixed so that we can proceed with the customization.

Please have a look into this and let us know what went wrong. We are wondering if this happened out of the blue or some other incompatibility of any kind.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Hey Phivos,

First, may i know what is your current version of Easysocial? If I am not wrong you updated to latest version of Easysocial 1.3.30 right?

If yes, what I suspect is someone accidentally uninstalled the latest Easysocial version.

By the way, can you try consult with cometchat can we reinstall Easysocial in your site? Because I believe they doing half way for your customization, if no any Easysocial core file related, so we can try perform reinstall again and see how it goes.

Dear Arlex,

Yes we run the latest EasySocial version. We would not like for now to reinstall EasySocial as we did many customizations (through the joomla backend I mean) that are going to be lost, is that correct?

Can the issue be fixed in another way?

I forget to show you my screenshot in my previous post.

You can see my attached screenshot below, what i suspect some one uninstalled the Easysocial, because that version is show 1.3.29.

Perhaps you can consider backup all the Easysocial folder first?

- JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easysocial
- JoomlaFolder/administrator/language
- JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial
- JoomlaFolder/language
- JoomlaFolder/media/com_easysocial

Dear Arlex,

Perhaps this issue was there from before, once we performed the EasySocial update?

So you mean there is no other fix except reinstalling?

Hey Phivos,

Somehow the Joomla couldn't find the Easysocial component, so it show out "404-component-not-found".

I suspect that some way break , it would be best reinstall again and make sure everything is install completely.

Dear Arlex,

Please DO NOT proceed with the above. Someone deleted the com_easysocial component folder from the components directory. We cannot believe that the CometChat support team could do such mistakes. It could not be us. We almost never enter FTP.

What we did is that we extracted yesterday's site backup on to our local and now we are uploading to the components folder the com_easysocial component folder.

Let us see how it goes and we will come back to you with the result.
