I have a user that has just jumped from around 5000 points to 21000 points and when I try and access his account from the back end I get a blank page. I have also noticed I get a blank page when I click the maintenance link.
Any ideas?
Thanks

hello Chris Lewis,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.
Are you using the latest version of Easysocial?
If yes, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this?
Also may i know that what is the username as you mentioned above? Please advise.

Hello Chris,

It looks like this user uploaded photos for about 19762 times. Would you like me to clear these points? Does he have that many photos?

Hi Mark, thanks for the help!

No this user hasn't uploaded anything like that many photos.
When I try and access this user in the admin I was getting a blank page. Today I am getting the following error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 84 bytes) in /home/sites/survivalinfo.co.uk/public_html/libraries/joomla/object/object.php on line 113

I have noticed another user with too many points and I can access their account from the back end and I see that the new points have been created from "Read Author Blog Post" but it shows this happening hundreds of times on 1 day. (June 1st) which is also an error.

Your help is much appreciated.
Best regards
Chris

Hello Chris Lewis,

Sorry for late reply to this,
I have checked in your php information memory_limit -> Local Value 128MB -> Master Value 24MB
Can you request with your Webhosting provider to help you increase both of memory_limit to 256MB or 512MB and see how it goes?

Hi Arlex, I have updated the .ini files with the new figures and I can now access the users account in the back end. It shows that all the points have appeared today with hundreds of "Read Author Blog Post" points. This is the same for one other user.

I have also noticed that the community polls page is now throwing an error:
Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$view in /home/sites/survivalinfo.co.uk/public_html/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/router.php on line 320

Any help much appreciated.
Regards
Chris

Hi,

I also get this error when I click the maintenance link in the ES admin:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class SocialMaintenanceScriptFixAlbumPhotoUserId in /home/sites/survivalinfo.co.uk/public_html/administrator/components/com_easysocial/updates/1.2.1/FixAlbumPhotoUserId.php on line 44

I have just noticed that the polls are also hanging on the submit button, though the vote is registered and the relevant email is sent out to the poll owner.

Thanks again
Regards
Chris

Hi, this issue with the user points seems to be ongoing. The points are going up too fast on certain users. I put the users points down to 6000 and today they are back up to 14000!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello Chris,

Hm, I think these users are actually trying to spam the points by uploading lots of photos. Can you see if they are really uploading that many photos? You can actually restrict the number of photos that they can upload on a daily basis by accessing profile types > [click on the profile] > access tab.

Hi Mark and thanks for the help.

I am sure the user wouldn't try anything like that and I am now unable to get into his user details from the admin to check for photo uploads I am now just getting a blank page. Other accounts open up OK.
Last time i was in his account details I could see that all the points seemed to be generated from Read Authors Blog Post.

Chris

Hello Chris Lewis,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,
Can i have the permission to help you clear this user "Tom Linden" point then restrict the number of photos as Mark mentioned in previous replies?
So that, they can upload the photo on a daily basis what you restrict the number of photos from the setting and see is it help much here?

Hello Chris,

Looking at your points logs, this user has earned 41837 points just by reading blog posts. I think this is actually a spammer and he's using some sort of tool to browse blogs?

This couldn't be an issue with the script because even if it is, this also means that he refreshed the page 41837 times and it doesn't make sense Do you want me to clear his points that he has earned by viewing blog posts?

Hi Mark,

If you could I would appreciate it.

I was looking in phpmyadmin for the points but couldn't find them.

Is it the sheer number of points that's not letting me access the users account from the admin?

I don't suppose you know a way to stop this type of spamming?

Thanks for all your help!
Regards
Chris

Hello Chris,

Yep, that's right. It's pretty massive the way the user is trying to spam. But try to monitor this and see if his points is rising again. I think eventually you should notify the user and tell him / her that you are watching over his account This is not something that we can combat because I believe he's actually trying to "spoof" the webserver to think that he has a new session all the time.

Hi Mark and thanks for updating the users points, I have been watching the account and it seems to be behaving itself now I have unpublished the point for reading a blog post.

I seem to be having a problem getting the Google Adsense to work, when you paste the code in it seems to save but when you open it again it is no longer there. The Adsense also doesn't show on the profile page. Another thing I noticed was that on rollover the users popup doesn't appear anymore. Is this feature no longer there since the update or is something causing this not to work.

Thanks for all your help.
Regards
Chris
