When trying to update, it gets stuck at "Initializing User Apps". When exiting out, it show's that it's updated to the latest version, but now modules like Groups aren't showing the actual group information in a user's profile. When viewing "Notification Settings", the left hand column is now missing.

There's also an additional 50+ MB of data loaded since trying to update.
hello Justin,

It seems like you are hitting this error :

An error has occurred.
-1 Copy file failed
Return to Control Panel

The "-1 Copy Failed" error is a common Joomla error when your site's file/folders permission aren't correct somehow. I know logically changing permission to 777 should but in you case it clearly does not. Please contact your webhoster regarding your issue.

I ran a quick permissions check and everything looks to be in order for files and folders and tried again - still running into issues. I haven't had any problems with installing any other components or previous ES updates so I'm a little confused. I've attached a screen shot of what error is triggered during install if it helps:

Hello Justin,

Do you have consult with your Webhosting provider yet?
By the way, can you provide us with your FTP access as well? Please advise.

hello Justin,

I have tried to access in your SFTP, but it seems like you provided us that path to joomla, those folder is not there.
Actually i need to double check with your file permission, because when you hitting that error mostly is related the file permission issues.
Or you consult with your Webhosting provider and see how it goes? Keep us updated then if your webhosting give your some respond.

Hi Arlex,

I ended up using Akeeba to backup the site and copy it to my local server. There, I was able to uninstall and re-install EasySocial and then move it back to my server with DigitalOcean. I've run a few additional tests and it installs normally again. As I couldn't source any folders or files with the wrong permissions I figured this was the best approach. Thanks for your help on this. I would have never equated it to a permissions issue.

Thanks.
