EasySocial 2.2.6

Wanderers - The Responsive look

Wanderers - The Responsive look

Remember my previous blog post on Wanderers? I did mentioned that Wanderers is a beautiful and awesome responsive Joomla template.

Well, after a few coaxing and sweet-talking my way around our designers, I was able to persuade them to share with me the responsive view of Wanderers. It does costs me a dinner so you guys owe me one LOL

Jokes aside, here are some of the information that I am able to share with you guys.

b2ap3_thumbnail_responsive1.jpg

Wanderers works perfectly on both iPhone and iPad. The late Steve Jobs would be proud of us. :)

I've also managed to obtain the screenshot of Wanderers on responsive view. Here are some of the screenshots :

The EasySocial's profile page, on responsive view. :)

EasyBlog's main page.

Well, those are few of the information that I am able to share with you guys. For those who doesn't have a clue, Wanderers is the up-coming responsive Joomla template that will works like a charm with EasySocial, EasyBlog, EasyDiscuss and Komento.

So, any thoughts? :)

Hurry ;)

Can we get an update post for EasyBlog and EasySocial? This is all fine and dandy but I think a lot of us want to know where we stand with products we are actually paying for. Not an unfinished template waiting to be released.

  1. n00bster    No Name

absolutely agree :(

  1. Ahmad Justin    n00bster

Thank you for the input, guys. EasySocial is very near it's releasing dates, we are trying to ensure that no major bugs comes with the product; we don't want to rush into things only to frustrate our users with annoying bugs. The same can be said for EasyBlog. :)

  1. Justin

Looking forward to it!

Thanks Justin.

I feel like talking to myself. :p

Ahmad, I'm happy to cook you dinner but can't pay for your flight to the USA ;) Looks awesome and thanks for keeping the community updated. I'm sure this all fits together: the work on updated releases for EasyBlog and EasySocial, the new template, helping your existing customers leverage and extend what we build with your solutions in a way that yields unity, cohesion, and simple elegance. I bet this helps TechJoomla with their work on mobile too. Talking about dinner Ahmad, I must admit...

But still we wait because we know what's Easy only comes first with hard work.

Hi Eileen,

Thank you for your offer. Dinner sounds awesome; I might look you up if I have the chance to go to the States. :D

I agree that Easy only comes after hard work, but as a user myself (I'm using tonnes of other stuffs and I do interact with other dev/support team), I also understand the frustration of waiting. In Malaysia, we have a saying that means "waiting is a torture".

Thank you for believing in us. I promise you that it's gonna be worth it! ;)

Any chance of seeing an Alpha or Beta release before the weekend, to have something to play with in the weekend? ;-)

My opinion is that a lot of folks are asking for a version of EasyDiscuss with the same style as the one here. Why not use the designers time to do this? Or, ditch the 10-20 EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss designs and give everyone something new and fresh. Too much outdated crap!

Hmm, some good points there, although I think I speak for many when I say that a template focused on making Stackideas components integrate better with each other is very welcome. Many of us have been requesting better cross component integration and a unified experience when using all of their components... and this seems to be a great step in the right direction.

Many of us have been requesting better cross component integration and a unified experience when using all of their components... and this seems to be a great step in the right direction.

Additionally, EasyBlog development is supposedly very far and the component is apparently being almost fully revamped, incl. from a design perspective, as many of us have requested multi column views and better use of screen real estate in single column views. So I wouldn't worry about that.

Regarding EasyDiscuss, they have confirmed that they want to evolve that product further, but that the developers have their hands tied with EB and ES. I am sure that in the near future they will focus on revamping ED, and when they do it will be an opportunity to improve the design. Until then, it is honestly surprisingly easy to use CSS overrides to make ED to look and feel however you want it to. In fact, you could even replicate the design they use here through mostly CSS overrides.

Just my two cents.

Would love to see the progress... still to be seen!

I think this will prove to be a profitable addition for StackIdeas, to offer up templates which are specifically designed to make each of your solutions LOOK as great as the code quality and support commitment behind it. I also know it is NOT a small endeavor, to create and support themes, but given the complexity of your software solutions, and the very real need for site builders like myself to offer up MORE of a unified customer experience, when moving (seamlessly) from one component's...

Thanks,
Please do consider making it compatible with K2

  1. Martin    Dawit Alemayehu

Good point, so will this template fully integrate K2 functionality, also in terms of responsive K2 content?

  1. Justin    Dawit Alemayehu

I'd rather Stackideas maintain focus on their own products and not worry about others like K2, especially since K2 is in the midst of releasing version 3.

  1. Martin    Justin

In previous posted screens of Wanderers-Template I saw main menu point called "K2 Categories", that is why I am asking if K2 is supported.

For me it would make perfect sense to support K2 for additional user generated content at my website, also it should be possible to upgrade to version 3 of K2 if guys from JoomlaWorks do their job right. Remember that Stackideas already support K2 for their components right now, so would be great to have all this in one single package with Wanderers-...

Looks good but I use easy-social and cobalt cck. will it be designed to work with cobalt as well?

  1. lindyhopper

Other componants are important but we are still waiting for full intregration of all the stackideas products and global theme and feeling across a web site that uses all the stackideas products ;) i hope this template will help to achieve this.

  1. jasonargo

I wish that all control rods are unified into one, and its products also, I use all their products and is a little mess to members so many different bars.
Otherwise you are very big and important to my web, without you it would not have been possible. Thank you

  1. lindyhopper

Yes ! I would also like to say thank you. You are The Best team in the joomla world in my opinion !

  1. Ahmad Justin

Thanks for all of the input and ideas, guys! Will forward it to our designers. :D

  1. Jannik L.

Welcome back from your holiday Ahmad, hope you had a wonderful celebration of Eid Mubarak! Good to see you back in the office, we are eager to get some blog updates with development updates! These are exciting times with many exciting upcoming announcements from you guys ;-)

and maybe you could even coax and sweet-talk your way to a Wanderers Beta release? ^^ It wouldn't hurt to ask, right? hehe

Anyway, as always thanks for all of your hard work ;-)

  1. Ahmad Justin    Jannik L.

Thank you Jannik. Well, to be honest, I'm still on holiday; will be back in the office on Monday. I'm taking some time-out from the Eid celebration and jump into my Macbook to see if there are anything that i can help Stack Ideas with. :D

Most of the designers are still away for their Eid celebration but we will all be back in the office on Monday; will talk to them about this once we're back. ;)

Any update on when we might see a beta or even an alpha? I'm hoping to use this template in a project that has a deadline of the end of August. It would be nice to try out even a buggy version so I could see if it will work for me. Otherwise I could start customizing my own template.

  1. Ahmad Justin    Bruce Wilson

Hi Bruce, we don't have any plans on releasing an alpha or a beta version of this template but I can inquire this from our designers on Monday. :)

Ahmad, can you suggest to the designers that they add another module position in responsive view, on the very top? for a facebook login, and for the notifications like I have it in statusselect.com in responsive mode?

Ahmad & Designers, I created a thread http://stackideas.com/forums/suggestion-wanderers-responsive-top-module-position-for-notifications-fb-login-button-screenshots-attached with the screenshots attached. As I notice that komento does not allow you to see the pictures in full size.

  1. Anxious customer

When will this template be available? I want to purchase easy social and use it with this template.

  1. Jannik L.

Ahmad, any chance of a blog update or even a beta before the weekend? :)

  1. Robert

any updates on this template?

  1. Ahmad Justin

Template is almost done (I'd say it's 99% done, to be honest). We're polishing it up and deciding on the right date to launch it. You guys better get ready! :D

  1. lindyhopper

For me the best date would be now so i can work on it this week end ;) (Hope) !!!

  1. Ahmad Justin    lindyhopper

To be honest, I'm wishing for the same thing! :D

The team have some last minit polishing up to do. Should be out very soon. ;)

  1. Jannik L.    Ahmad Justin

I can't wait!

  1. Réseau Vendée Pôle    Jannik L.

+1...the problem is that the Stackideas 's products are so good that each update is torture to wait... Sorry for my english :p

  1. Anssi

What about the font size in Wanderers? Is it also this small as it is in StackIdeas site and in EasySocial?

What is it with you and the small font sizes? I hate to read such small print. Always have to zoom your site. I think you should create a poll to get comments from your customer base to see if they think that the font size is ok or not. Typography makes a huge deal to the usability of the site.

And to point out the insanity of using 11px, here are some quick references and quotes :):

http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/05/17/typographic-design-patterns-practices-case-study-2013/
"With readability as the determining criterion, the average pixel size of body copy has increased in four years as well. Back then, most of the websites were between 12 and 14 pixels in font size. Now, 14 pixels is as popular as 16 pixels"

https://creativemarket.com/blog/2013/12/25/4-typography-trends-for-2014
"Because of increased screen resolutions, the standard 12 point font is no longer as readable as it was before."

http://codeitdown.com/responsive-web-design-2014-stats-trends/
"13px and 14px are the most common font sizes. Few sites use 12px or less, which was quite common five years ago. Still few go above 15px.
The use of font sizes that change with the viewport (through media queries) is not extended, but it's expected to increase during the next years."

ux stackexchange com bigger-font-sizes-trend:
"Changing display size and DPI. A 14px font isn't going to be readable on a 3840 x 2160 display. Or on a smartphone held at arms length."

11px is something which was used 5 years ago.. don't know what kind of displays the designers of easy social default UI were using, but it's hard to read in todays displays and makes easysocial to look plain old and confusing.

PS. I had to edit the links out because of Akismet spam protection.

I'm Wandering what happened to Wanderers :p any news Ahmad?

  1. Ahmad Justin    LAC Webadmin

"Wandering". I see what you did there, LAC. :D

Anyway, I'm waiting for Mark's approval on releasing some new info on Wanderers; there should be some new updates coming this week.

Hint : check your inbox! :p:

  1. Jay Bhander

Agreed that 11px is too small. Here's another reference that advocates larger typography.
