How to Migrate Joomla 2.5 Articles to EasyBlog?

Joomla 2.5 is a great content management system for you to build solid websites using its articles. These articles does the job of displaying your content and images and can appear in any form and style. But for creating that blog 'feel', you will need some extensions and plugins to achieve it.

This means you will have to scour the Joomla Extensions Directory for plugins and components to make up for a full-fledged blogging environment. But bear in mind, the more components/plugins installed, the slower your Joomla website loads up and that will turn your visitors off!

So, you went ahead searching for an all-in-one solution of starting a blog in your Joomla site and found names like Lyftenbloggie, MyBlog, SmartBlog, etc. But then again, what happens to all the brain torture you went thru writing stories in Joomla articles? You don't want to lose that part of your life to die, do you?

As the creators of EasyBlog, we know what bloggers are looking for in making their blogs look and feel good -- possibly save you from losing your hair, too.

In EasyBlog, you can find a migrator tool to move your Joomla articles over to EasyBlog. All your articles will be converted to blogs with just a few clicks. You just specify which categories and sections, published or even unpublished articles and run the migrator -- done deal!

Of course, before you migrate, make sure to backup your articles and turn your Joomla website to offline so that any database activities are not disrupted and that you don't get a heart attack.

Migrating your articles in Joomla 2.5 is easy. Just follow the 4 steps:

After clicking Run, the migrator will work its way moving your articles in Joomla 2.5 over to EasyBlog. You will see the process of it in the Progress area and the number of articles and users moved, in the screenshot below:

That's it! The migration is done. Flip to your frontend and you should see these articles appear in EasyBlog.

Email to me at andrew@stackideas.com if you have any concerns about this great possibility ;)

Hi, this sounds like a great feature. Is there any reverse export functionality to go to joomla articles from easy blog posts ? I don't plan on doing it (easy blog is working well for us), but the fact that Easyblog doesnt store posts as joomla content prevented us from adopting it for quite a while (I still think that would be a good option for Easyblog to offer out of the box). Keep up the good work... looking forward to seeing 3.5, especially the new the media manager.
