EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2, With New Blocks

EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2, With New Blocks

How was EasyBlog 5 Alpha 1? We've received some reports in our EasyBlog 5 Issue Tracker. Based on the reports and our schedule, we're releasing EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2. We've fixed some issues, plus we've unlocked (is this even the right word?) for some blocks.

What are the new available Blocks?

Here are the list of the added blocks in EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2:

  1. Spotify
  2. Pinterest
  3. Gist
  4. Codepen
  5. Slideshare
  6. Behance

More blocks will be available as we progress through the testing phase; we need to ensure that everything runs smoothly before we release more blocks. Download EasyBlog 5 Alpha now and check out those cool blocks. Hey, what's more cooler than sharing your favourite Spotify song on your blog post, aye? :)

For those of you who don't know what blocks are, we have totally created our very own unique composer, in which you can actually drag and drop elements onto your composer instead of using short codes. Do get an EasyBlog license, download EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2 and try it on your local sites. If you prefer to try it on our demo site, you can reach it here.

What About Themes?

We only provided one theme for EasyBlog 5 Alpha 1, and was actually planning to stick to that same theme until we release the full version. However, things were getting really dull in the tester's room; and one of them actually Skype me and said "Dude, I am tired of the this plain theme. I can't imagine what would our users would feel when they tested it".

Just from that simple conversation, we've decided to add some cool new themes for you to play around with. No more boring themes! There might be some bug with the theme so head on to EasyBlog 5's Issue Tracker page and report it to our team. We will check, fix, and push it to the next release.

Can I download it now?

Sure! Head on to the download page and download EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2 release. As before, I would like to strictly remind you that this is an Alpha release; we highly recommend you to refrain from using this on your live site and use it only on your testing site instead.

My EasyBlog license is already expired. Help!

EasyBlog 5 Alpha 2 will only be available to active license holders. Should your license has already expires, you will have to renew it in order to have access to the download. We've created a new coupon code in order to assist those who have not renewed during EasyBlog 5 Alpha 1 release; this will give you a 25% discount off from your renewals. The coupon code is :

EB5ALPHA25

Renew your license now and get access to the future of Joomla blogging.

Tried the composer again. It's fancy but i HATED it and so will my bloggers for sure.

I did like how easy it is to add the main image and the location. other than that, i'm afraid there's nothing that would make me want to use your composer.

I really hope there's an option to set the old editor as the default with all the options to add spotify/behance etc.

hi Ahmad, i have the same feeling like Ningning Niumai. main image and the location function is cool on your demo put the important part where my user should write there blog looks not realy inovative. are you satisfied with these 3 lines: "Enter a blog title", edit, and "Enter your text here.."?? also the block wich is shown after click on "Enter your text here ..." looks uninviting and uninspiring!

Hi, hi

I have had a look at the (online/demo) and it seems pretty cool and intuitive.
Reminds me a little of how Rapid Weaver used to work
I too wonder about being able to switch back to the old editor.
Yes I know I am an exception to the rule with my weird JCE workflow…

Just thinking aloud here.

Here is where I explain my work flow:

I still have one question related to the above question.

I wonder when I upgrade to EB 5 will this break my old Pop Up EB3.9x/JCE work-flow?

Thanks in advance

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your comment. I've talked to our developer and I was informed that currently EB5's composer is not compatible with the JCE workflow. You would have to switch to the legacy editor (the Joomla's editor) for that.

We are concentrating on fixing bugs for this release before we are planning on adding new features. Should you find any bugs, please do not hesitate to share with us via our EasyBlog 5 Issue Tracker page.

Would like to see blog authors able to specify that their blog entry should be visible to one or more of their EasySocial groups.

This is a natural extension of an ES-based site that gives site authors the capability to add blogging to their ad-hoc groups.

Hi Eileen,

Those are quite awesome ideas that you have. The developers would check them out and determines whether it's applicable; and which releases should the feature be included in.

it would be great to have an anonymous option?

There are times when i write a blog as a regular registered user but don't want to reveal my name.

Will easyblog 3 be a one click update to version 5?

  1.    Jellyweb

Hi Jellyweb,

Yup, that's the plan! There might be some changes (as we're still in Alpha stage) but if there's no issues, we'll ensure that the update will be a one-click-update from EB3.8 to EB5.
