Additional Updates for EasySocial 3.0

Additional Updates for EasySocial 3.0

Before we end this extremely productive week, I would like to take the opportunity to share a little more on the progress updates for the upcoming release of EasySocial 3.0.

Site Moderators

Assign moderators in EasySocial 3.0

Prior to EasySocial 3.0, there wasn't really any way for you to assign users with administrator privileges without allowing them to access the administrator area. With EasySocial 3.0, the team added the capabilities to assign users with moderator permissions without allowing them to login to the administration area.

That way, moderators will almost have the same permissions as a site administrator, but without having the ability to access the administrator area.

Movable Location Markers

With EasySocial 3.0, we have also added the ability to move markers on the map interactively. This allow users to choose a more precise location instead of the suggested locations.

Header Layout Customizer

Choose & drag apps for Profile header

With EasySocial 3.0, as a site administrator, you would also be able to tweak and customize the layout of the apps that appears on the profile header of a user, group, page or event. This can be configured via the profile types or the category section. This would allow you to have a greater control of re-arranging the apps that would appear on the headers.

This is again to emphasize the new approach of simplicity in EasySocial 3.0, and to provide site administrators greater control over the site.

@ Post Ownership

Ability to post as page admin or personal account

With EasySocial 3.0, page administrators can now choose to post comments or updates on the page as the page or themselves. This would assist page owners to easily switch in between themselves or the page when posting a comment or a status update.

Better Photo Management

Mass deletion in photo album

Photos in EasySocial 3.0 has also received some improvements where your users would be able to perform mass operations on one or more photos without dealing with them one by one.

Recent Audio Module

Recent audio module in EasySocial 3.0

In EasySocial 3.0, we have also added a new recent audio module which allows you to place a list of recently uploaded audio in a module on your site.

Horizontal Layout in Modules

Horizontal layout in modules

The recent Events, Pages and Groups modules have also received a brand new horizontal layout. If you're familiar with the latest posts module in EasyBlog, you will notice the similarity of this module. With EasySocial 3.0, admin can now display and promote events, pages or groups in EasySocial 3.0 to appear horizontally anywhere across the site.

Emoji Management

Upload an image as emoji
Publish it to your social site

In my previous post, I did mention about the new emoji browser, but didn't really explained more about how one would go about managing it. With EasySocial 3.0, emojis are no longer fixed and it can be easily added from the back end with your own image or use a custom unicode emoji (provided that your database supports it).

Timeline for EasySocial 3.0

While some of you may have already noticed this, we do not normally publish the time frame of our releases and it isn't entirely because we don't have a date for the release, but we would rather not have a fixed time on when we should release an update. It's always best to release a product when the time is right :)

We sincerely appreciate all the support that we have been getting so far. More exciting news on the mobile updates will be unveiled soon. Stay tuned.

- Please add unified module positions throughout the templates, this is important to maintain a consistent design.
- Please consider an improved invite friends system that integrates with the already connected social media platforms in EasySocial such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn
- Please consider adding User Registration/Login for Google as well as invites through Google+

you didnt' hear it? Google+ will be closed for privat user. Only the commercial used one will be continued. Facebook/Twitter/linkedIn would also be my wish. :)

  1. Philippe

Thanks. Interesting features :)
But I still do not see the possibility to reply to a comment in a publication...
And so make a sub-comment, as in Facebook

  1. Eric Fagault    Philippe

Indeed, it would be very interesting.

With EasySocial 3.0, can we select a Group in the story form ?
To publish directly in a Group.

  1. Mark    Philippe

It's a good idea.. No, it's a great idea and you should really be posting them on the feature requests :)

Great news! Also hope to see alternative maps function so you can also choose free open source OpenStreetMap :) https://stackideas.com/forums/whats-your-thought-about-openstreetmap

  1. Mel    ssnobben

+1 for OpenStreetMap

  1. Mark    ssnobben

We are actually studying the possibilities of including Open Street Map in the subsequent release as we are now pretty close to the feature freezing the 3.0 release :)

Exciting news update drip like this allow for over active imaginations . :-) Not that my imagination is always in the sky* ;-)
I know this one will be good though, I just feel it in the air!
Audio looks nice in modules, but will we be able to send and receive whats-app style voice messages and have background post images too?
We can wait and see, but the update will be cool anyway!

  1. Eric Fagault

Hello,
All this is very interesting.
Do you think it would be possible for the MAPS to be directly displayed in the stream and not just the address that opens the popup MAP?
Best regards.
Eric

Would be cool to use the Event Location Map for the Event Cover Photo if no Cover Photo is defined.

  1. Josh Lewis    James

Agreed James. Would be both informative and visually pleasing.

  1. Ferdinand

Can we make it so that we have a better image system for seo? Like can you mirror the video component of es to the photos?
Thanks!

  1. Mark    Ferdinand

Not really sure what do you mean here but isn't the urls already identical ?

  1. Josh Lewis

This is fantastic news for EasySocial! :-D Especially love the additions of Movable Location Markers and Better Photo Management. The ability for users to manage content of profile apps would be deeply encouraging for users. This would allow folks to manage email subscriptions to forums, add locations to a lot of photos with ease, caption untitled items (with ease), delete old clutter, edit various privacy quickly, and more.

  1. Mark    Mel

Thanks Mel :)

When release 3.0?

  1. Sylvie    Bartek

Unfortunately, we don't have an ETA for this. :(

  1. ssnobben    Bartek

I guess that ES will be released same time of one week after Joomla 3.9 release October 23 https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/milestones

  1. Philippe

Will EasySocial 3.0 bring improvements for hashtags ?
Suggestions for hashtags in the Story form, subscription to a hashtag feed (with email digest)...
Thanks

  1. Sylvie    Philippe

Thanks for your suggestion Philippe. You should post it over to our Feature Requests section. :)

  1. Andrey

Please add the ability to create albums in the Audio section, as well as in Photos. Very necessary!

  1. Gregor

Great!! Very happy with the administrator functionality in the front-end. Is there also a way to see and approve the pending users in the frontend? That would be great. Keep up the good work!

  1. James

Please update the Developer Documentation for EasySocial.

  1. LAC Webadmin

@Mark, is there any update on Group File management in v3.0? Ability to move files from one folder to another, rename a file or folder. Thanks!

  1. LAC Webadmin    LAC Webadmin

No comments? :D Well, I'll add one more thing, nested folders please just like standard file structure. Thanks! - Jackson

  1. David

Hey Mark, looks great! Just a couple questions 1. Will you add the movable location markers function to Easyblog? 2. You added an emoji tool, I assume this doesn't work with the ES reactions?

  1. Mark    David

Yes, we do intend to add the movable marker locations into EasyBlog. As for emojis, they are different than reactions :)
