Upgrading from EasyBlog 1.x to 2.0

To upgrade from EasyBlog 1.x to EasyBlog 2.0, you can actually follow the following steps,

  • Uninstall the existing copy of EasyBlog 1.x and reinstall with the new EasyBlog 2.0
  • Install the component on top of the existing 1.x version.

Factors to consider before upgrading:

  • The theme's architecture in EasyBlog 2.0 has been re-engineered therefore, your existing theme changes might not work in EasyBlog 2.0. While EasyBlog 2.0 will automatically backup your theme changes, you should also make a backup copy of your changes for just in case purposes.
  • Make a backup if you have any hacks installed. The upgrade doesn't actually backup any other files apart from the theme files. If you have added some hacks in the core codes, you should make a backup first.
  • Disable module and plugins before upgrading. As a safety precautions that we always do, we always disable modules and plugins first before any upgrades to ensure that in the event that there are some problems during the installation, the site would still work as expected.

Factors to consider after upgrading:

  • Because of the architectural changes and feature added in EasyBlog 2.0, modules and plugins will also need to be updated to the latest version. You may download them from http://stackideas.com/downloads.html . By upgrading, you will take full advantage of the features offered in EasyBlog 2.0
