In the backend of Joomla 3.4.1, I updated easyblog using the automatic updater.
It stopped at 10%
The website was whitespace.
In the backend, I changed error reporting to maximum
It read:
Warning: require_once(/home/newnorth/public_html/media/foundry/3.1/joomla/framework.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in/home/newnorth/public_html/components/com_easyblog/constants.php on line 228

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/newnorth/public_html/media/foundry/3.1/joomla/framework.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/newnorth/public_html/components/com_easyblog/constants.php on line 228

I turned error reporting back to none
Then I tried to open Easyblog component and it was whitespace!
Thus I couldn't access Easy blog in my backend and my website was whitespace!

_____________

So I reinstalled my original version com_easyblog_community_3.9.22295.zip) via Extension manager and now is all OK again.

_____________

So I am still getting the message to update EasyBlog from 3.9.22295 to 3.9.24862.
Which download do I use? Launcher, Component or Full Package?
Is it com_easyblog_component_community_5.0.13_joomla3.0.zip? Your site says this must be done manually. Can't I just install this file using Joomla Extension manager?
Hello Jeanette,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I can't seem to login to the FTP server with the provided login credentials. Can you please advise?

Sorry
After editing my message above, I realise that the current downloads are for your new easyblog 5.
I see there is documentation for upgrading to this.
Can you just supply me with 3.9.24862 for now?
Thanks

Hello Jeanette,

We don't actually have downloads for 3.9.x but I would like to sort out the issues that you are facing so that I can update it to EasyBlog 5 for you

By the way, I don't see any access on your original post

Helllo Jeanette.

Can you consult with your web hosting provider to increase your PHP memory_limit to 128M? http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-29_1528.png

Please advise

Hi,
Here is the response from our host:

"I have increased the PHP Memory to your request

Unfortunately this change effects every other website that we host and is a huge security risk.
Thus I will reduce the it PHP memory back to 32M after twenty-four hour.

Are you able to do all your changes within 24 hours?"

Please advise

Thank you so much.
I must say EasyBlog 5 looks very clean in the backend.
Two things at this point:
1. Can I tell the host to change the PHP memory back now?
2. I had to turn my 'latest blog' module back on. It is down the bottom of the home page. But clicking on the links now cause the blog article to show on the home page. Can you see what setting I need to change?

Appreciate all your help.
It is great software.

Hi Jeanette Fitzmaurice,

You're welcome.

Two things at this point:
1. Can I tell the host to change the PHP memory back now?

May i know are you using share hosting? Because our Easyblog 5 re-commanded memory_limit set to 128M, but minimum you can set to 64M
-> http://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/welcome/getting-started
But i think that was not enough if you set back to 32M is because you can't control your site user what content their post.

2. I had to turn my 'latest blog' module back on. It is down the bottom of the home page. But clicking on the links now cause the blog article to show on the home page. Can you see what setting I need to change?

It should work fine now after I configure back your Easyblog routing behaviour to use default from your backend.

I don't know what our hosting setup is. I just know that he wants to set it back to 32M.
Our users are very light users so I don't expect any problems there but will I encounter the problem again when I do small 5.x updates?

hi Jeanette Fitzmaurice,

Unfortunately that was not possible do the small update.

May i know is it no other way to increase your memory_limit to higher? Because I afraid sometime will hitting memory limit issues, because Easyblog 5 minimum requirement is 64M.

Perhaps you can try reduce the memory and see how it goes.
