I am trying to figure out what Content Triggers are used for?

Content event triggers configuration for EasyDiscuss. Post Replies Comments? Yes or No.

Anyone have info on what this does, please let me know.
Hello Randall,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'm sure you are familiar with content plugins in EasyBlog where you can have the plugins modify the text before displaying it in the entry/frontpage listing pages. In EasyDiscuss we allow users to control this.

The content trigger is to allow/restrict the content plugin from working in EasyDisucss posts. Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Thanks Adelene,

The content trigger is to allow/restrict the content plugin from working in EasyDiscuss posts. A content plugin? I'm still not clear on this yet.

Does this mean a third party plugin such as NoNumbers Snippets that is used to add content to Joomla?

If so, perhaps this answers my other question about why I can't get NoNumbers Snippets to work with EasyBlog or EasyDiscuss?

I am trying to use a content plugin that uses macros to add content frequent used on my site for documentation. I want to use it within EasyDiscuss, and EasyBlog, but can't seem to get it to work.

What is NoNumbers Snippets? - http://www.nonumber.nl/extensions/snippets
With Snippets you can include text snippets in your content. You can make reusable snippets (pieces of text/content) and include them into your content via a tag, like {snippet my-first-snippet}

If you edit the article (or module or wherever you put the tag), you will still see the tag. But on frontend view you will see the content of the snippet instead.

You can use this to insert much used content for instance. Then, if you change the content of the snippet, it changes everywhere you have used the tag.

The Snippets tag
The Snippets editor button will help you insert Snippets tag. You don't have to use this, you can also just type the tag directly into your content. The tags look like:

{snippet snippet-id}
So to place a snippet you have given the id 'copyright', you would have to place:

{snippet copyright}

Adelene, thank you.

I'm still not clear on this. Can you give me an example of a Content Trigger?

Hello Randall,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. A content trigger would be something like this plugin http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-web/social-media/audio-a-radio-channels/16874 Also the NoNumbers Snippet does trigger the content trigger. A content trigger is normally set when the content is being prepare for display. Before displaying the content trigger will call the plugin to process the content. For example, in NoNumber Snippets it will search for

{snippets no1}

and replace it with the snippets with the ID of "no1". In EasyDiscuss a user has the ability to turn of this function. When it is disable EasyDiscuss will not call the plugins to process the contents. Hope this clears thing up.

Thanks!

@Adelene, the SoundCloud content plugin that you referenced works very well. Do you happen to know the most popular content plugins available for use in stack ideas products? Do your products perform any type of auto-conversion for links today and what are plans for the future (i.e. video links, slide show services, etc)?

Hello Eileen,

We do not really have a list of these but most content plugin will work with EasyBlog without any issues. We do have the Embed video function but we only support popular video sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Yahoo, Google and DailyMotion to name a few Hope this helps.

Thanks!
