Does this mean we can set it up so that we can show the person's age without the date? So for example Tom is 34 years old. Right now there is a show year option view, a show date option would allow me to accomplish this.

Thanks for your suggestion. We will see if we can add the option to show the age or not in this widget. There is few things need to consider before adding this option. E.g. admin set to show in age but due to user's birthday's year privacy, showing age will not make sense.

Thanks for considering it. Some of us don't mind sharing our age, but for security purposes don't publicly say our birth date. It's a identity issue with accessing important info in the real world based on that little piece of info.

Thanks for the heads up.

I hope I will be able to turn off the display by default of ALL birth years by default. We are fine with the month and the date by default, but do not want to display the year for privacy reasons. Right now birth years are showing up in the users Full Profile. I need to get rid of that before it offends some people. Of course giving the users the option to turn on more information to display is fine. We just want to start by not giving out month, day and year of a persons birth since that is sometimes used as a way to verify a person for security purposes.

Another reason to allow a way to display age is that the custom field is called "Age" after all.

Exactly. While the method appears old fashion (asking date of birth), it is not going away any time soon. It's used all the time, I was asked this several times from doctors within the last month. If someone looked similar to me and knew my date of birth, they could easily by pass a lot of things. This makes it a serious real life security exploit.
