Hi,

I have a left menu with all categories.
When I click on the menu link the URL looks fine.
But if I use that menulink to link to in an article it will add "/categories/", why?
It is the same menulink, the different is where it is linked from..

I'm afraid that it looks like double content for Google and it doesn't looks good..

Best Regards,
Camilla
Hello Camilla,

Can you provide us with your joomla backend and FTP access of your demo site so we can check on the issue directly? Please advise

Hello Camilla,

I've applied the fix for your. What I did is I added one easyblog frontpage menu item layout and set the easyblog SEO setting as follow, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-14_1827.png . The url should display correctly now. Can you verify it for me?

Thanks for your reply!

It doesn't matter what I do, it still adds something in the URL when I link it from an article...

Now I have set the menu link "Afholdte Workshops" to blog frontpage and show one specific category.
When I enter this page http://demo.retrolook.dk/log-ind and click on the article link "Afholdte workshops" I get this URL http://demo.retrolook.dk/afholdte-workshops/latest
The URL in left menu is http://demo.retrolook.dk/afholdte-workshops

I just want to display categories in a menu in left and be able to link to a category from articles.

Best Regards,
Camilla

Hello Camilla,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I'm not quite sure if I understand you here. May I know why you change the menu item "Afholdte Workshops" to blog frontpage? If you choose the category alias as easyblog frontpage the url structure for your category will become like this, http://demo.retrolook.dk/afholdte-workshops/category/afholdte-workshops. I've reverted back your change and use the easyblog frontpage hidden menu that I've created in my first replies.
Now I have set the menu link "Afholdte Workshops" to blog frontpage and show one specific category.
When I enter this page http://demo.retrolook.dk/log-ind and click on the article link "Afholdte workshops" I get this URL http://demo.retrolook.dk/afholdte-workshops/latest">http://demo.retrolook.dk/afholdte-workshops/latest
The URL in left menu is http://demo.retrolook.dk/afholdte-workshops

It seems like the url is coming from the article "Log Ind" and inside there its contain "view=latest", hence the url will include the /latest. I've edit the url inside the article and it should display correctly now

Ok, may a ask what you linked to? Is it a menu link or content?
And will I have to change the left menu link?

Sorry, maybe I'm just a bit confused

Hello Camilla,

I linked to a hidden menu item of the frontpage blog layout with "blog" as alias. With the current setup all of the url will refer to the blog alias but since I have configured to ignore the category when the url is displaying, the url will be display like this : domain.com/category/entry_title where category is coming from your single category menu item alias.
And will I have to change the left menu link?

You do not need to change the left menu link as everything is sort out with the current hidden menu item.

Hope these can clear up some of your confusion. Feel free to ask again if you need more explanation or if you facing another issue in the future.

I'm really sorry, but I feel lost here...

Can you please tell me, if you add a link in an article and want it to link to the category "Oplevelser/Rejser", what do you do?
Mark the word/words and then add link (from website), right? Where do you get this link from, index.php?option=com_easyblog&Itemid=179?
It is the correct URL for "Afholdte workshops" but I can't find it in the menus anywhere, so I can link to it.....
I can't figure it out! It really bothers me...

Hello Camilla,

Ah you are referring on where to find the item id of the category. You can check the item id from your backend > Menus > kategorier, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-28_1211.png . Hope these can help.

No, I can't find where this URL is coming from, "index.php?option=com_easyblog&Itemid=".

Ezrul changed one of my links in an article to that URL, and it worked, but I don't know where he got it from... From a menu link or did he wrote it himself or what? How can I add it my self without copy-paste the link?
He wrote he had created a hidden link for blog frontpage and I saw he had change the article link to that URL.
Now I just want to know why and how, so I can do it my self next time

Hello Camilla,

Ah now I get it what you mean by the url thing. I am sorry for the confusion and I'll try to explain it in simple way.

The url is actually coming from the native joomla url when you disabled SEF from joomla backend global configuration. For example the url http://site.com/blog will become http://site.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog when you deactivated the SEF. You can find the settings from your joomla backend > global configuration > Site > SEO setting.

The Itemid is determined by the id number of the menu item that you are using from the menu manager. For example as my screenshot in my previous reply, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-28_1211.png the id number for the menu item "Alfholdte Workshops" is 179. Hence the url will become like this, http://site.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&Itemid=179. When the SEF is turn on, the url will become like this, http://site.com/afholdte-workshops

Hope I am clear enough with the explanation.

Thank you for your reply

Please see the attached image.
When I want to add a link in an article to "Afholdte Workshops" for example, how do I get that URL Ezrul added to my article?
I mark the word I want to be a link and choose from the list (image), right? But none of the menu links have that URL as Ezrul added......
Where do I find it? I know I can copy/paste but that is not a good solution

I have remove index.php from the URL now

Regards!

Hello Camilla,

I am sorry for the delayed response.

The url generated in the joomla article is not controlled by easyblog itself. Hence it will be displaying the incorrect url when you directly select the url from the category menu item. Unfortunately there is no other way to achieve the correct url unless you manually edit the url just like I did in my previous reply.
I know I can copy/paste but that is not a good solution

Unfortunately the only solution is to copy and paste the url as we cannot alter the core behavior of the joomla itself.
