Hello,
My forum users receive some email notifications (when a new message is post on the forum) several times for the same message ; sometimes they receive it once (that is correct), but for other messages they receive 3 or 4 email notifications. Do you know why ? Perhaps I have to many notifications activated in my easydiscuss config (automatic subscription...?). Thanks a lot for your help. Rgds.
Hey Pixandlove,

Do you mind checking your Email Activities at the backend of EasyDiscuss. There could be duplicates of the same item, therefore sending you multiple email notifications. Secondly, if you're currently using the latest version of EasyDiscuss & still receiving multiple email notifications. It could be the server's issue, in which we could not rectify it on our end. Please seek the host server for assistance. However, if you're still using the previous version of EasyDiscuss, please download the latest version of EasyDiscuss, it could just be a bug. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your quick help ; I have updated easydisucss.
I have checked email activities and have discovered some problems.
The problem is, for exemple, with this message which email notifications have been sent several times : [#51]: Nouvelle question posée - Broyeur de branches Viking
If I type "Broyeur de branches Viking" in the email activities seach field, I have 10 results pages but I only have 61 users.
It seems that emails have been sent several times on the 2015-09-16 and the 2015-09-14 ...
Rgds.

Hi,
I always have problems with email notifications ; some emails are sent several times for the same post, and now no emails notifications are sent, even for th admin. I have checked my cron and it is ok (find login enclosed for cron and logs). I think there is an issue in my easydiscuss config because in the mail pool there is a list of pending emails from the 17th september...why these old emails are not sent today ? thanks. rgds

Hello,

I've checked your setting in Easydiscuss>Maintenance and found out that the value for this option is 5: http://screencast.com/t/lbmVXyIJWsn which will take longer time to send all emails in your mail list. I've changed it to 20. Please monitor the emails list to see whether it works or not.

Thank you Nick ; but I don't understand very well the role of this value. Is it the amount of emails easydiscuss will send for each cron execution? In my case I execute the cron job every hour. So after 4 hours all emails (70, because of 70 users) should be sent because the value is now 20 (20x4=80), correct?
Why don't we put directly a value like 100 or 200 for this parameter "max mail number"?
Thanks again for your precious help.
Rgds.

Hey pixandlove,

I am sorry that delay of this reply,

Yes, for example :

If you set `Max mail number` to 100 , that mean it will automatically sent out 100 email notification every hour.

The reason why we are not encourage user to set high number of `Max mail number` is because it depend on their server performance fast or not. If their server performance is very slow even 100 email notification also can't send out within 1 hour, so it will causing some user getting multiple email notification issue.

If your server performance is quite fast and php max_execution_time set very high e.g. 300 , it would be safe if you set ` Max mail number` to 100. Hope this explanation will help.

Thanks Arlex ; I understand better now this functionality but I still don't receive any notification (neither for user and for admin).
All emails are "pending" in the mail pool since several days (more than 10 days for the oldest!)...I have launched the cron command manually "http://www.../components/com_easydiscuss/cron.php" but no email at all...? Rgds.

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. How was the cronjob created on the site? It's most likely that the cronjob isn't executing correctly because if the cronjob is executed, these emails on the email activities should already be marked as sent by now.

hi,
find below a sample of the last cron job from my host provider ; the exit code is zero, it means that the cron was executed correctly.
I think the issue is on the forum site because when I directly execute manually the cron (with URL "http://www.../components/com_easydiscuss/cron.php") I have a correct message "Cronjob processed", but I still receive no email...
thks

Hey there,

It's actually correct as it is showing as "Cronjob processed" in the output of your cronjob lobs above.

no, it's not correct because the emails are still "pending" (and not "sent") in easydiscuss mail pool and because I don't receive any of them!

Hey there,

I have manually run all the pending email send out to your site user, did you receive an email?

May i know your cron process is every per hour?

By the way, when I logged in your cron configuration site and click on this page -> voisins-du-pic-st-loup.fr but I can't see any cron tab there, am i missing something here? Perhaps you can provide us with some screenshot regarding this cron tab?

Hi Pixandlove,

May I know how can we access your FTP so we can take a closer look on your easydiscuss core files that related with the cronjob?

Hey there,

I am sorry that delay of this reply,

It seems like your cron service unable to modify how many minute you would like to set, it by default is 34, I am not really sure is it 34 minute process 1 time.

Okay, now I have help you configured added 1 more extra hour + 34 minute process each time.
34 */1 * * *

Then I set `Max mail number ` to 100 now.

Perhaps you can try create a new discussion and check backend Easydiscuss mail activity is it every 1 hour + 34 minute send out 100 email notification?
