my subscription has already expired, but i am still in the process of adjusting the configuration of payplans to my needs on my DEV website.

through a post from a user i now also got to the topic of the tax function in payplan: https://stackideas.com/forums/basic-tax

with your addon app "basic tax" you can, according to my tests, as far as I can see the simple processes of the tax for EU specifications to manage - business to customer (B2C) taxation.
However, in addition to B2C, in my project it is the plan to provide also the ability to sell AD Spots to business (B2B) with the Advertisement function from Easysocial in combination with payplan.
in concrete terms this means, if a user/company want to buy a AD Spot the taxation looks as follows:

  • if the buyer without a tax ID is from the same country, the basic tax is applied.
  • if the buyer without a tax ID is from another country in the EU, the basic tax is applied.

  • if the buyer with tax ID is from the same country, the basic tax is applied.
  • If the buyer with tax ID is from another country in the EU, no tax is charged, because the reverse-charge system applies.

what is "Reverse charge"
Customer liable for the tax (i.e. under the reverse-charge procedure) – the words ‘Reverse charge’.

Hey Noobster,

Before saying anything on this please let me know first that you are using "Personal Tax" also in euvat ?
See here: https://tinyurl.com/yfcr4hgh

This personal tax will apply only if the user doesn't have a vat id, so you don't need to use basic tax.

We will check about this.

Looking forward to your response.

hello.
no i had done my tests first with the basic tax app.

i did the test again with the EU VAT app. i noticed that it does not work as expected:
my website is based in austria (country in the EU), so i have to execute the austrian tax on the invoices what is working if the buyer is from austria itself.
but if the buyer comes from another EU country like spain (i choose the country spain in the checkout) then the tax is not applied, but it should for non business customers.
how it should be done for business customers you find the behavior in my first post.

i would suggest you should have a look on other shops like "hikashop" how they solved the taxation specifications for B2C and B2B situations in the EU.

And the option "personal tax rate and business tax rate" in the EU VAT APP does not bring anything, because the tax rate has nothing to do with B2C or B2B, it only says that the tax has to apply or not.
the tax rate itself does matter what goods or services you offer.
so that would mean you have to bring the tax rate down to the plans level.

future outlook: if you would go for a shoppingcard feature with the marketplace from Easysocial then you have also bring the tax rate down to the product-level. the tax rate must be applicable to the product or service you offer.

Hey Noobster,

I am really sorry for the delayed response.

After a long check, it seems don't have a quick way to adding this at this point of time.
Because it'll require a lot of changes and we also need to check whether it will not affect the other functionalities at the same time.

Just for your information, I've already logged this into our issue tracker and we will look into this to see how it will works if possible.

Thank you for understanding!

Hi Manisha, thank you for your feedback.
From your perspective I can understand that a proper implementation of the taxation for B2C and B2B in the European area does not happen overnight.

But I must urgently point out that if you want more customers from the EU area, you need to take care of it soon.
Mark has already hinted here and there that payplans as a payment interface will be more integrated into existing stackideas products in the future.

please consider the tax issue early in the strategic planning of payplan so that it is also fully usable for the EU area.
keypoints:
- tax rate down to the product-level / plan-level
- show tax rate(s) on checkout and invoice
- show payment method on invoice
- show discount codes on invoice if one in use

Cross-border VAT e-commerce is being modernised in the EU.
The new rules will come into force on 1 July 2021.
