I am struggling just to add a photo where I want it in a blog post. Please give us some tutorials ASAP!

If I start a post with a blank template, write a few paragraphs, then decide to add some images between the paragraphs, how do I do this? I am trying to add media and add blocks, but I cannot seem to drop the media or a block in the middle of my post. I cannot seem to drag and drop anything.

Do I have to go back and create a template with the vision of my final post, then copy and paste all the different paragraphs and images in my post to a new one?

I want to like the new Easyblog but I am so frustrated with the fact that the composer for easyblog is not intuitive and I am losing hours just trying to make one post.

Please help with a tutorial of how to use the composer.
Hi Leslie,

You can refer to our documentation here on how to compose a blog using block, http://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/composing . If you still have anymore issue regarding on how to use composer, kindly let us know and we will assist you accordingly.

Hi Ezrul,
Thank you for the reply. There is very little information there. I looked at it before writing, and it simply did not answer any of my questions. We need more information on how to use it. For now I will just continue to use JCE.

thank you,
Leslie

Hey Leslie,

We're still updating our blocks documentation and it should be updated by the end of this week. As of now, to insert an image with the new composer, click on "Add Blocks", click on "Image" and click on a position where you want it to appear.

Then, click on "Upload" to upload a new image or "Browse" to browse for existing images from your media manager It's as simple as that.

I look forward to the useful documentation. Sorry, I tried your instructions many times and the block does not go where I want. Sometimes the image does not appear at all in the composer, but it does in the published post. It appears in unpredicatable ways, so I cannot format it.

I am not really sure how to reproduce or replicate your issues. What did you do to insert the blocks into the content? It's just a simple drag and drop operation which you can drag the block and place them under the editor section.

Here is my process:

1. start new post using blank template

2. copy and paste my post text, from previously written MS Word file, into the post

3. click add block (a screen appears that covers the entire post)

4. click on the image block icon (I can then see my post and select only 4 places where I can put that block: before the post left, right or center or after the post. None of these are where I would like to actually put the image - in the middle of the text.) Alternatively, I see I can also click add media, then insert, but I end up with the same result.

5. I add the photo to one of the openings and try to up upload an image.

6. After selecting the image, the screen displays "Loading.." indefinitely.

7. After waiting several minutes for a file that is only 45KB to upload, I give up and click back.

8. I then click browse media in the block and discover the file did upload. I select the file and click insert. I then have a photo, but it is not really where I wanted it. I really wanted to add it after another paragraph.

9. I try to move it, but am only given 4 places I can put it.

Since I do not have instructions yet for use of Easyblog 5, I think it is like any other drag and drop editor. I assume you can hover over an area and then drop your block where ever you like.

10. After trying to move the block between paragraphs a few times, it occasionally works. The image becomes a thumbnail, but I lose control of the image. I can no longer click on it t move it of apply any other adjustments to it. I cannot delete / remove it.

Aside from the drag and drop feature being limited, it seems I have found some bugs.

Back to my original question, do I have to create a template that exactly matches the final look I want for my post? Or can I actually insert images anywhere I want, when I am editing a post in a blank template?

It appears that I cannot. It seems that perhaps I have to add several text blocks. Then chop up the text I have already written, and copy / paste it into several blocks. I would then rearrange these blocks to create the block positions to insert photos between the text paragraphs. If that is the case, then it is entirely too cumbersome to do when creating a post.

I hope this helps, but without having useful instructions and without the flexibility and ease of use like other editors (I have been using JCE ), I am just not going to struggle anymore with the EB5 composer. It's a waster of my time. I look forward to seeing it when it is finished and becomes more user friendly. I like the idea of templates, and I am sure they will be useful when I have a standard post, but this is just too much trouble to use right now.

thank you,
Leslie

Hey Leslie,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Hm, perhaps this is what you can do, create a blog post with the new composer, then let me know which article that you have written and I will take a look at it and try to understand what you are trying to achieve here.

You can actually insert images on the "placeholders" when you selected a block. Take a look at my screen shot here for an example, http://screencast.com/t/daAWEjhN9hQc
