I've checked your issue and found out that the issue caused by your template. I've temporary changed the template to Joomla default Protostar and the smiley issue has gone: http://screencast.com/t/qtTkuCrAR . You might want to consult your template developer about this.

The smilies are from the BBCode, which cannot be partly disable it. You have to disable the whole BBCode editor by turning off this setting: http://screencast.com/t/tC4uKPJHr
