Hello,
I have an issue with the SlideShare Block, When I use it with public Slide files it works just fine, However, my client required some private slide files, this option is provided by SlideShare through a secret link. It seems that the SlideShare block doesn't read the slides from the secret link provided by SlideShare.

I uploaded a test slide file and made it public and it worked, but when I change it to private and change the normal link into the secret link provided by slideshare it doesn't show the slide att all, its just telling me its being loaded. below is some screenshots..

NOTE: I noticed the letter "s" added after the "http" and removed it.. problem still exist.
Hey Helal,

What the block really does is that it will actually crawl the link that you have provided and scrape meta data from the page. If the page is hidden and not accessible to the public, this wouldn't work

Hello Mark, thank you for your quick reply again,

I did find a way around by using the "Embed code" provided by SlideShare.com and the "HTML Block" it works ok. its not as easy for my client, but this is the best way so far.

NOTE: when I use the same link I used for the "SlideShare Block" earlier on any browser it opens the slide file normally. I hope some one will take a look and try to find the reason why its not showing the private slides with secret links.

Thank you again..

Hi Helal,

Thanks for the update.

I hope some one will take a look and try to find the reason why its not showing the private slides with secret links.

Just like my colleague Mark said, easyblog block is actually crawl the url provided as "public user" which is obviously do not have access to any private url. Imagine trying to access your backend without any login credentials, the same concept applies here. Hope this can clear up some confusion that you have.

Hi Ezrul,

Thank you for the clarification , SlideShare.com gives you the option to make your slides private and provide you with different url, whoever has this url can access the slides, no more credentials required:o . also it gives you the option to allow your slides to be embedded or not. I logged out from my account and tried the url which they called "secret link" it did open the slides like it would if it were public. I was just hoping that someone could take a look at it whenever possible, maybe it is something could be solved easily. meanwhile, I am using the Embed code + "HTML Block" and it does show the private slides.

NOTE: the screenshots attached to my first post shows the options.

Thank you
