Hello,

Do you have any documentation or direction on setting up an RSS Feed for the use of adding Podcasts to itunes? Right now I have easyblog and what I am doing is writing up the blog and including a link to the podcast, not sure if this is the best way but I notice there is a RSS fee social button that directs to stubble upon.

Just confused on the RSS feed and looking for more information to "create the feed" but not sure if I already have one using easyblog.
Hey Erik,

The RSS feed in EasyBlog is solely used for feed readers. It doesn't actually allow podcasts because podcasts requires a different standard for their feed.

I had submitted to itunes prior to reading this I did get one of the podcast to list but only one and without the proper author codes and title.

Would you recommend I just use another plugin to manage my podcasts? What I am doing is blogging and having a podcast episode in the blog, I then submit to itunes.

Hey Erik,

Yep, I would suggest using a plugin / extension that is specific to podcasting as they have more specific "details" on the podcast feed

Is it hard to override the RSS output? EB is such a great platform that it would be really nice to be able to generate a podcast feed, even if it has to be run through feedburner first.

Hey Brian,

Yes, have to add all the single podcast RSS feed standard tag and populate all the value on the view file.

In Joomla, they already included this RSS feed libraries, so for those 3rd party developers easier to create a single view for RSS feed in their own component.

By the way, It would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this in our voice page -> http://stackideas.com/voices/easyblog, so everyone else could vote for it, the more people request on this, and we will priority consider it.

Is there a developer we could hire to customize the RSS output and tie it to custom fields so that this does what we want? EVery single blog post will be a podcast episode, and it would be the category RSS feed that would need to be a valid podcast rss with the proper fields.

Edit: It looks like we might be able to override /categories/view.feed.php? If so, would this work to pull custom fields and format it for a podcast?

thanks!

I'll let you know, my client is now looking at using Wordpress in a sub folder to their Joomla site and just using a podcasting plugin for that instead.
