Maybe with a future release, would it be possible to automatically remove/delete the installation packages after updating EasySocial. I noticed 5 versions in the folder:

administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages

Since each one is around 15 MB, it can start adding up.

Thanks.
hello Justin ,

Yes, it should be remove it after updated, but some of the server they do not grant the permission allow the user delete permission, so that package file still existing in administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages

Hello Justin,

Can you try deleting those files and when you try to upgrade in the future again, see if those files are still on the server?

Sure thing Mark. I've noticed this in the part on a local test version (using WAMP), on a cPanel test version online and also with DigitalOcean.

Thanks

Just a quick update ... I did the update to 1.3.13 and the installation package was not removed.

Hello Justin,

Thanks for getting back to us,

Okay, may i know which installation package zip file are you tried to install just now?

Also can you do the backup in your site first? so that we can try debugging on this, it should be some permission issues so that it can't process delete the temporary installation zip file from the package folder.

Hi Arlex,

I've backed up the site. I used the standard EasySocial Launcher to update to 1.3.13 (I downloaded the latest launcher released today). If it helps, the package never gets deleted whether it's on a cPanel server (like this version), a local version using WAMP or on a VPS like DigitalOcean.

Thanks.

hello Justin,

Yes, it seems like all the php script trying to do the delete function in this folder ../administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages

but it will not success. Even i manually write a sample php script for delete this file "my_file.txt" from package folder also can't success.

Can you try consult with your webhosting provider regarding this? Maybe some umask issues?

Hi Arlex,

Since I'm having the issue with three separate instances, all with different hosts, I'm thinking something else must be blocking the script. I have Admin Tools on each of the sites so I'll try to create unique rules regarding access to that folder and see if it resolved the issue next time an update is out.

Thanks.
