I just want to have username, password and e-mail field

Hello Thomas,

I am really sorry but unfortunately you can't really remove this as this is required by Joomla

Hi Mark,

but I used it in the past versions of easysocial. There wasn't any name field.
Is it an alternative to remove the username field as the first and last name field could generate the same username automatically?

Hello Thomas,

Yes, we did allow it in the past version but we realized that Joomla has made it compulsory and Registration will throw an error if it is not exist.

Hi Nik,

ok I understand this, but is it possible to remove the username field. The username could be generated via the first/last name fields?!

These are very bad news, I hope you change this again in the future as many people will use this feature...

You may be in luck. What did you think of the email as username alternative?

Hello Thomas,

As Josh pointed out above, if this option is enabled, the username will not be requested but the person's username will be their email address instead

Hi all,

nice feature, but if the E-Mail address would be the username then the address will be shown in the activity stream. This one is public on my site and then I would have problems with data privacy.

Best would be to have only first and last name to set at registration and username would be generated automatically via those fields.
The login could be handled via E-Mail address...

So I will try to work this, but thank you for your help!

One last question - is it possible to rearranged the fields in the quick registration so that first/last name comes first?

Set the name display to "name" instead of "username". This way people still get to have their privacy.

Thanks for the heads up on this Josh To reorder the firstname / lastname on the quick registration area, you can edit the custom field and set the ordering as you can see here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-11-23_1410.png

Ha... That is working perfect for me!!
Never thought about that option. Thanks for your help guys!!

Mark, I don't want to reorder onl first and last name, but the whole quick registration so that for example the fields order would be

1. first name
2. last name
3. e-mail address
4. password

Hello Thomas,

The ordering of the fields on the quick registration is actually dependent on the ordering of those fields in the profile type.
