Hi Mark & Team,

Running v1.2.21 and I just noticed that the Album Photos that one user created last week were not uploaded to S3. If I manually run the cron job it says "No photos to upload to Amazon S3 right now."

The Group name is Middle School where the Albums are created. This is in our livesite.

Thanks,

Jackson
Hello Jackson,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Hm, is there any particular albums that is having issues? I noticed that all the source of the photos are referring to cloudfront. Is there anything that I am missing?

P/S: I am testing this on your live site since you mentioned that the group is "Middle School" on your live site.

Hi Mark,

Yes, please check the Middle School Group and go to any of the Albums and click on one of the pictures, if you click on View Original you will see that the image URL is local. Shouldn't that already uploaded to S3 automatically? Unfornately, Super Admins still have to join the Group to see any of the Group Album, so you may have to join the Group. I'll clean it up later.

I am using NoNumber CDN and using Cloudfront, also enabled CDN in ES System Preferences using the same setting I use in NoNumber CDN plugin. Then I also enabled Amazon S3 in ES Remote Storage. How does ES work on that configuration? Which takes precedence?

Thanks,

Jackson

Mark,

So sorry for the late reply I finally made the FTP to work. When you get the chance can you try again please.

Also, can you do me a favor and look at the Issue I'm having with Users not getting Indexed, Arlex is working on it but he seems to not understand what I'm asking but he found the issue though.

Thanks a big bunch.

Hello Goodwin,

S3 is good as a cheaper alternative for storage but really, unless you have hundreds of thousands of users, or your current hosting gives you very limited space, I don't think it makes sense to use S3.

Hi Mark,

Yes, that is the right port. Sorry about that, please try again, I am testing this at home right now using 3 different app in OS X and I can login successfully. I think it was the password. I've updated the FTP Account.

Thanks!

Hello Jackson,

It looks like for some reasons, the files aren't uploaded to Amazon at all and I need to view your current Amazon account to review the settings and see why it isn't being pushed to the server.

This is the error that is being thrown by Amazon currently,

SSL: no alternative certificate subject name matches target host name 'community.lakeave.org.s3.amazonaws.com'

Hi Mark,

Thank you for looking at it. So, what does it mean? I notice that you turned off SSL in Remote Storage setting, did it fixed the issue?

EDIT:
The SSL error that you see is related to SSL issue when using self-signed certificates. And I just confirmed that based on this:

http://shlomoswidler.com/2009/08/amazon-s3-gotcha-using-virtual-host.html

Since most of your customers are not using SSL, I guess nobody reported an issue. Maybe, you can amend the Remote Storage configuration and add a validation just in case they are using SSL like us. Also, maybe an update to ES code on S3 URL from:

https://<bucketname>.s3.amazonaws.com/<object path>/<object>

to

https://s3.amazonaws.com/<bucketname>/<object path>/<object>

This URL will work with SSL or non-SSL properly without the SSL self-signed certificate issue. Also, it does work with bucket name using dot.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hi Mark,

Can't you see the S3 login info under Remote Storage? You need the Access Key and Secret Key, correct? Or do you want an access to aws account?

I copied the old bucket into a new bucket name. I don't know what impact that's going to do with the existing links but incase that's not an ideal thing to do, I still have the old bucket in S3.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hi Mark,

The Other Details field does not support HTML so it is messing up the password. I moved it to website fields. Please try again.

I really need your help on making this S3 work Mark my webserver is running out of space. Thank you for your patience.

Mark,

Any news about this issue? I already upgraded our live site to v1.3.4 and if I run cron manually, by looking at the returned status, I'm still getting:

"status":"200","contents":"No photos to upload to Amazon S3 right now.","time":"2014-09-18 00:14:53"},{"status":"200","contents":"No avatars to upload to Amazon S3 right now.","time":"2014-09-18 00:14:53"

So I guess the issue is still exists in the latest version. My server HD is using 86% of capacity, I really need to move these photos ASAP.

Thanks,

Jackson
