My site, http://www.manasikarogyam.com, uses Joomla 2.5, and is mainly based on EasyBlog. It was hacked about an year back. Though I had recovered it from a backup, many pages return an internal server error even now. I had tried many solutions, including replacing all Joomla files and all extensions and templates, but the problem still persists. What I plan to do now is

1. Create a new directory in the root folder
2. Create a new database
3. Install Joomla 3.2 in that new directory using the new database
4. Install EasyBlog in this one.
5. Manually copy the html of every article and paste it to the new installation
6. Delete the files of original Joomla installation, extensions, templates, etc. from the root directory
7. Move all files of the new installation to the root directory

Now, my questions are -
1. Is this strategy likely to work? Will there be any problems, like issues with paths to various files, when I move them from the subdirectory to the root directory? If yes, will I be able to solve it by any bulk edits in the database?

2. Is there any easier alternative strategy than the one I have detailed above?

Thanks in advance.
Hello Shahul,

Are you using the latest version of EasyBlog 3.9.15608 ? There's a known issue in the previous version of EasyBlog

Hello Shahul,

I think this is what you need to do,

1. Migrate your existing Joomla 2.5 site to 3.x first.
2. Create a new directory for your new site.
3. Install Joomla 3.2 on that new directory
4. Copy the database for the new site.
5. Install EasyBlog on the new site.
6. Contact your hosting provider to set your domain to be hosted from this new folder instead.

Thanks, Mark for the response. I need one clarification though. What is the advantage of upgrading the current site to 3.2? (The reason why I ask this is, I am afraid of something going wrong during the upgrade )

To be honest, it's more about keeping up with technology There's no MAJOR advantages but soon, with Joomla 3.5, it will have lots and lots of goodies. So it's just like your iphone / android upgrades You want the goodies, upgrade If not, stick to what you already have

I upgraded to Joomla 3.3, and rebuilt the site. Now one issue I face is that, the code for XTypo, which used to work properly in EasyBlog posts in the previous version of the site, have stopped functioning. This is the code in which I should paste the text I want to appear in a box:

{xtypo_quote_left}My text.{/xtypo_quote_left}

However, now, instead of causing the box to appear, the added code appears as plain text in the articles.

Please have a look. Thanks in advance.
