If we make any change to a blog (remove an image, change the time) the read
more button breaks and has to be removed and readded.

This is happening on all of our sites that have easyblog 5
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

That was strange, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can better have a check?

You can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site .

I already tried follow your instruction to replicate this issue in your site, but it seems like work fine for me even I edit my test post and removed image and changed the post time.

If you can able to replicate this issue, remember do not modify anything and point us which blog post facing this issue so we can better have a look of this issue.

Keep us updated then.

Hello Arlex,

I have added another site to the additional message in original ticket. The blog that currently that has the issue is named: Tip of the Week: Creating a New Google Account? Here’s How to Transfer Your Contacts

As you can see here: http://prntscr.com/aulicb . The readmore is there but it is not working correctly. It sometimes takes opening removing and readding a few times before it works.

Thank you for continuing to look into this, I appreciate your time. Looking forward to your response.

I've tested in your another site regarding that post, it seems I need to re-add back the readmore link, then it only work.

Then I create another test post in your site to replicate this, but it seems I can't replicate this issue, perhaps you can take a look of my video here and see is it I missed some of the step to replicate this?

No thats the issue, why are we having to re-add the read more for it to work. The read more should just work the first time.

Thanks

hey Chris,

If you watch my video link above, I believe you will notice my test post was doing publish the blog post at the first time, then open back that test post and (remove image, update the creation time) then save again, it still show correctly that read more.

It would be best if you can download Jing software then record a video how to replicate this issue so we can help more on this.

By the way, keep us updated then.

The issue is the read more is there as you can see but the read more isn't working.

We use a packager to push the blogs so we don't actually create the blog on the site. The read mores are there but when we push the blog the read more is not working, so we need to manually go in and delete it and replace it. Why would this be caused the code is exactly the same.

Hey Chris,

This is a very important clue as you mentioned that you publish your blog post from 3rd party integration system.

By the way, may i know what is this system "packager" as you mentioned at above?

Arlex,

It's an unreleased (we will launch it someday for the community) Joomla app we created that we call "Quick Agency". It allows us to push content to sites from a remote location without having to log in to each clients website. We have used this for a long time with easyblog 3 and it worked great. When easyblog 5 came out we adjusted our code and thought it should be working but we don't know why this would be happening.

When easyblog 5 saves an article is it looking for the read more and then does something to the DB that we aren't seeing? If you could give us some insight to that we can update our code to do it.

Hey chris,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Hm, I am not really sure how this Joomla app "Quick Agency" work integration with Easyblog.

Perhaps you can check on this Easyblog post library file (JoomlaFolder\administrator\components\com_easyblog\includes\post\post.php) under this function normalizeContent() and see why it didn't normalize the blog content when you post from your Joomla app.

Because this normalize content function will check if the content exist this readmore code <hr id="system-readmore" /> , it will split it up the content to store in `intro`/`content` columns from this #__easyblog_post table.

We are still experiencing this read more issue with blogs not pushed with our packager. I need a fix for this. This one was made manually. I have attached video.

Hey there,

Can you try update to 5.0.37 latest version in your site is because we have applied some fix in the latest version regarding the read more stuff.

Note : If you have any customisation file, you have to backup first before you update to latest version.
