Hello
I have two questions regarding the settings of cronjob for EasyBlog:

1) I would like to set this up in Webcron.org. What interval do you suggest? Does it have to be every 5 minutes?
2) Do I need to change the settings to No for 'Send eMail on page load' under EasyBlog -> Settings -> Notifications as exlained in your documentation under Easycron Setup?

Thanks for your help and best regards
Gabriella
Hey there Gabriella,

The answer to your questions are:

1) The interval is up to server capability; the 5 minutes is just the time that most average webhosting server can handle the cronjob processes.

Some websites generate a lot of email and a typical cronjob is set to handle 20-50 emails at a time. If you set it to run at the shortest time possible (1 minute, as cronjob cannot be set to seconds), and the webhosting's server speed is not that great, it will slow the website.

My suggestion is to stick to the 5 minutes, because it will give the cronjob time to process all the emails without interfering with your site's speed.

2) For sending emails, EasyBlog and if not, most webservices provides two options, Cronjob or Page Load and only one is used at the same time due to their different methods of doing their job. Cronjob processes the emails 'silently' on the background of your website at set intervals. With the right settings, you won't even notice the cronjob doing its job.

Page Load however, will only process the emails when the page is load or refreshed.

Imagine you have 500 emails pending, and you load your site. It will slow your website considerably. So yeah, we don't recommend people to use the Page Load. If anything, Page Load should be obsolete and extinct if not for the fact that cronjob haven't properly taken over and it wasn't as easy to set up
