HI guys,

Still having lots of issues attempting to get EasyBLOG to integrate properly with Facebook pages...

what I think I understood at this point is:
1) When the facebook token runs out, I need to re validate following one of the many processes listed within the forum or follow the Dave Parker pdf on Resolving EasyBlog Expired Facebook Tokens.pdf posted as approved on your site? ( This is confusing - which is the definitive version??) None of these are a great option for me however, as I manage close to 100 accounts for clients and appear to need to visit each and every app every 60 days!
2) It was not clear to me that you can only post from a public category unless you apply a code hack to helper.php!!
3) If using any of the SEF components for Joomla the ability to post to the social media is only an option from the front of the site - URLs from the back/admin side bypass the SEF component and therefore are not directed as they should be!?

Currently even when having done all of that and using the latest version of EasyBLOG with a valid certificate from Facebook and autoposting telling me it is all set up, posting from the front end the post is not being applied to my facebook page!

Can someone please comment on the statements above as, if I am mistaken with any of these, it may explain why no connection!
Hello Nick,

Please find the answers to your inquiries below:

1) When the facebook token runs out, I need to re validate following one of the many processes listed within the forum or follow the Dave Parker pdf on Resolving EasyBlog Expired Facebook Tokens.pdf posted as approved on your site? ( This is confusing - which is the definitive version??) None of these are a great option for me however, as I manage close to 100 accounts for clients and appear to need to visit each and every app every 60 days!

This is unfortunately not something that we can control because Facebook just recently started implementing such restrictions where the tokens would only last a maximum of 60 days

2) It was not clear to me that you can only post from a public category unless you apply a code hack to helper.php!!

Yeah, if your blog post is posted in a private category, it wouldn't really make sense if the post appears on Facebook which is public.

3) If using any of the SEF components for Joomla the ability to post to the social media is only an option from the front of the site - URLs from the back/admin side bypass the SEF component and therefore are not directed as they should be!?

Yeah, this is true and the only reason is simply because those SEF components doesn't translate URLs at the back end of your Joomla site. If it did, then it's possible to generate the URL accordingly.

As for your post not appearing on your Facebook page, could it be that the blog post is private or it is being posted into a private category?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the response - no I made sure that to test this I was posting from the front using the public "uncategorised" category...

(mind you it has been a long day!)

HI Mark,

Sorry (said it had been a long day!) also:

Could you amplify your first response to include the latest advice on how to set up the facebook API -- I have seen " Creating your first Facebook application (New UI)" (which appears to have the "basic settings" missing BTW it goes straight to the Advanced tab) - is this the current guideline? if not please would you point me in the right direction... as I said over recent months there seems to be a plethora of somewhat confusing advice, which judging by the sheer volume of posts on this topic would indicate that I am not alone in my confusion!

Also surely all the points made above would be usefully included within the documentation which I don't believe they are - or did I miss them?

Hello Nick,

Sorry for the lack of documentation. Here is the screenshot for basic setting. I believe, everything else is the same as the documentation. If the autopost is not working, can you provide us your facebook access so we can have a better look on your issue here? Please advise.

Hello Nick,

Sorry for the confusions, but my colleague has actually highlighted the issue that is on the Facebook app but he did not realize that the option " Enabled by default" was disabled for the Facebook auto posting settings in EasyBlog. I have turned this on and the auto posting should work fine now when you post a new blog post

I have tested this again to ensure that it works correctly and it does submit the blog post to Facebook as soon as I publish the blog post.

p/s: I have deleted the item from the page to avoid confusions for your Facebook users.
