Hi Everybody,

I apologize there are some questions that I could not find out in the demo (can´t use Tabs in your demo) and I didn´t find anything in the documentation.

It´s about the ProfileTypes and the Events. I would like to use the Profiletypes to controll the Events:

Profile-Type A can see all events, also can create and attend Events in Category X
Profile-Type B can also attend Events in Category Y, but not create new ones

The Reason is:
Category X should be "free for all". Everybody can create, everybody can attend.
Category Y are "my personal Events". Everybody should see them, but only User-Type-B should be able to attend. Nobody exzept of me should be able to create an Event in Category Y.

Is this possible with Easysocial?
Is a simular process possible with groups?

All the best, Julian!
Hello Julian,

Thank you for your interest in EasySocial. Unfortunately right now the ACL in EasySocial's profile type is not that extensive and you can't actually restrict it this way. You can however, restrict creation of events / groups in specific category by profile types.

Hi Mark,

I am using JomSocial since years and I am definitely planing to switch to EasySocial. Please excuse, that there are so many questions. I just like to have a clear plan before I switch. One of the reasons for me waiting is also because I wait for a Tigra-Template for EasySocial. But however, EasySocial seems so much better for me that I am sure I will switch.

The possibility to have addending restricted to usergroups would be a huge benefit for me.
As you already have an ACL for the creation, do you plan to extend the ACL also to attending?
I know it would be some more complex work, but with having the ACL for the creatin, it seems to me like the feature is "half-way-done". If there is a restriction for creating, it just makes sense that there is also a restriction for attending ....

All the best, Julian!

Mamybe ... let me think about a workaround for the moment.
Is it possible to give the user badges based on theire usergroup? Or even better: Based on theire subscription in jPayplans?

Reason for me is I like to restrict some events to "paying users".
Paying users are allowed to attend my seminars without any cost, but free users should not.
So it would help me a lot, if I could "see" which of the attending users on an event are "free users" and which are "paying users".

All the best, Julian!

Hello Julian,

Perhaps in the future we can actually add a new functionality to restrict attendees from specific profile types when they try to attend an event in an event category. As for the badges, unfortunately right now they are actually not associated with "profile types" or "user groups". If Payplans developed the badge integrations, they could assign custom badges to users when they purchase a specific subscription.

By the way, I don't think such functionality exists on Jomsocial as well eh?
