Hi,

In ED, when setting the category permissions, if one removes public or guests from:

'Who can view discussion in this category' and 'Who can view replies in this category'

then those user groups are correctly blocked from viewing or replying to discussions. However, if a reply is marked as 'Accepted' then that reply become visible even to public or guests. Removing the 'Accepted' designation once again hides it from those groups.

I would think that Accepted replies should be hidden just as any other reply would be based on the ACL.

Hello Jordan Weinstein,

Oh, i got your meaning now.
By default, we are allow the public/guest user able to see which is accept answer although they do not have the permission, because when the public/guest user go through all the question from your forum, they can find the solution from your discussion thread.

But I know that was not all user will accepted, I will discuss with our developer and see how it goes.

If you really do not want this, try download my attachment file and replace on this file
JoomlaFolder\components\com_easydiscuss\themes\simplistic\post.reply.item.php
Hope this help.

Hello Jordan Weinstein,

Sorry for late reply to this,
Correct me if i getting wrong your meaning here, do you mean that when you removes public or guests from
-> 'Who can view discussion in this category'
-> 'Who can view replies in this category'

Yes, those public/guest user group will get blocked view or reply to discussion.
Then I tried to marked a reply as 'Accepted Answer' then the public/guest user group also will not have permission to view and reply to discussion in my local.

If I analysis correct on your issues, can i have your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this if the reply section will appear in public/guest user group? Please advise.

Sorry Alex,

Can you try leaving public and guest in 'Who can view discussion in this category'

but remove them from:

Who can reply discussion in this category and Who can view replies in this category

Leave them in:

Who can view discussion in this category

In my site, this will correctly allow them to see the question but not the replies. However, once the reply is mark as 'Accepted' they can see it - and this is not a correct behavior in my opinion.

Thanks Arlex,

This is perfect, and to me it is consistent with the permissions setting to hide replies (even accepted ones) from guests and public.

Hi Arlex,

Can you let me know if this will become a permanent change as there seemed to be a number of lines in the code changed and I will lose them on update if this is only a hack for me. Perhaps it can be user option. I really don't see the point of restricting replies but showing accepted replies to guests/public.
