So... we now have Pinned Items.

Can someone explain to me the benefit of a pinned item vs a bookmarked item and how they are any different? Of course this excludes the new pin marker. But seriously, whats the difference? Also, can everyone pin? Can we setup some ACL rules for this? Should a pinned item always be at the top of the list? Should we be able to set a duration for how long its pinned?

Sorry, this one I simply don't get.

Thanks,
James
Hello James,

Pinned items are different than bookmark items. Bookmarks are mostly used by yourself while pinned items are items that you want to show to other viewers that are priority. For instance, if you want to highlight a specific stream on your profile, it will then display as "sticky" on your profile. When another person views your profile, this is stick-ied to the top. This applies to both group and events as well.

Understood.

Would it make sense to put an expiration period on the Pinned Items? Of course, this would preferably be something user selected.

Hm perhaps this could be a feature request I guess? But I really think that pinned items should really just be as simple as pinned items rather than adding those complexity
