Voice Page can be seen here.

I noticed recently that my Joomla site is over 800 megabytes! I wondered why on earth is it so big? Turns out this is mostly related to EasySocial packages from previous installs located in "administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages". I've been installing EasySocial since version 1.0.10. I have pretty much all the launchers since then which is 596 megabytes. I was quite relieved to find out that this is fixable manually by deleting them, however I'm sure there are others who will not notice this.

Also I found that the directory "root/media/com_easysocial/scripts" has 63.1 MB worth of files. This is due to a build up of optimized scrips from different versions as seen here:

Not as significant, but worth mentioning that my "media/com_easysocial/tmp" was 557 KB. I'm usually pretty good about purging caches, clearing Joomla's tmp, and keeping things tidy.

What I'm proposing is for launchers to be automatically purged as well as the old media script files.
Okay guys, just an update. It seems like if you are using the "download" method those files weren't cleared from the site. This will be fixed in the next release. You just need to update using the new launcher in the next release

Silly question from me probably... but is it safe to manually delete everything but the most recent version in the 2 EasySocial folder locations that Josh mentions? (Thanks Josh - Nice housekeeping observation!)

Logically that made sense. So I went ahead and removed them with no consequences so far. I had a backup in case this was problematic. I removed the files in all three locations and saved over 600MB of space! I kept the launcher for 1.3.22 just in case but got rid of all the older ones. The three locations are:

administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages

media/com_easysocial/scripts

media/com_easysocial/tmp

I appreciate the kind words and am glad that this is being considered. I like to keep my software tidy and light weight when I can.

Hey guys,

It's perfectly fine to delete them. I will also add this in our issue tracker as the installer should actually remove files from older versions.

@Josh, thanks for the tip I had also seen the other packages when installing after having copied the files to my local server but had always put off what I could do until tomorrow and with your note now it's something I just did and it's "spring cleaning" time anyway

I have already added this into our issue tracker so that the installer would get rid of all these old files Please keep an eye on this and let me know how it goes with the next update!

Hi Justin,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Check my screenshot below. Are you referring this part of script file?

However, I've tried in my locally, it work fine for me after update latest version of Easysocial, all the old script file will be auto removed.
easysocial-1.3.xx.static.js
easysocial-1.3.xx.static.min.js
easysocial-1.3.xx.optimized.js
easysocial-1.3.xx.optimized.min.js

May i know anyone still having this issues?

The launcher zips are still remaining in the following directory: administrator/components/com_easysocial/setup/packages

I'm pleased to see the script files purged as expected. Also note that "media/com_easysocial/tmp" still kept a temp file of a profile picture that was deleted (via user deletion).

Hello Josh,

Hm, thanks for the heads up on this! The installer should remove files from the packages. Will tripple check both of this again!

Both the zip package and previous scripts are still there (see attached image).

Edit: @Arlex, it looks like the scripts in the media folder have been removed on the live site but not the my testing server - probably a server issue on my end.

Hello Justin,

Could you check the permissions of these script files? It's most likely that these files was transferred or it was uploaded by the FTP user and when apache / webserver tries to delete the files, it failed because of permission / ownership issues

We've been installing the launcher as a precaution, hence why they remained. Thanks for looking into this.
