Hello,

Not sure if someone else required this, but don't understand why Easyblog does not allow you decide which links inside a blog article to have follow or nofollow tags, currently i see only a global option to make all them follow or nofollow.

In some cases you may want some links to have follow and other nofollow

Hi Barbu Valentin,

Unfortunate, there is no setting for allow you decide which links inside a blog article to have follow or nofollow tags currently. Perhaps, you can voice it out in our voice page here: stackideas.com/voices/easyblog

Thanks for understanding.

I agree with you, it's pretty weird that this isn't a built in option. A potential workaround for the time being would be to disallow the specific types in your robots.txt.

Personally, I want to block all tags and author pages from being indexed, so this robots markup would be appropriate:

Disallow: /*tags
Disallow: /*blogger

The configuration with the wildcard will block any number of URL variations:

blog/blogger
blog/blogger/
blog/blogger/name (etc)

blog/tags
blog/tags/
blog/tags/mytag (etc)

Hello Brandon,

There is no way for EasyBlog to "intelligently" determine which links have follow / nofollow. If you are using the WYSIWYG editor, you could add the nofollow attribute on your hyperlinks.

I disagree. You internally have settings that allow for 'noindex' on specific page views, and 'nofollow' for links. This isn't much different. Nobody is requesting that EB utilize "intelligence" to determine what links to noindex, the feature I want is static. In other words, if I don't want tags indexed then I should be able to declare that in a setting. From the EB side it would just require adding rel="noindex" to tag URLs.

The reason I find it so interesting that EB doesn't have this is because it's a standard function in most blog applications. It's well documented that not indexing tags tends to benefit (or not harm) SEO.

I don't quite get you here. This post is for hyperlinks in a blog post when you are posting a blog post. It has nothing to do with tags or am I not understanding you correctly here?

No, you're not following. I am talking about a 'noindex' option for tags, and I referenced the current feature of being able to 'nofollow' hyperlinks as an example of it being possible. Your original reply indicated that it wasn't possible to allow tags to be set to 'noindex'.

Bottom line, it would be a great feature to be able to set individual tags to 'noindex', not just the tags page as is currently allowed in the SEO settings.

Hm, this post has nothing to do with tags (tagging). The original post is about hyperlinks within an article and this is exactly why we want you to start a new thread rather than replying to an existing one.

I believe what you are searching for is the ability to enable / disable nofollow attributes against tags (tagging) in EasyBlog, correct? I would suggest that you start a new thread on our featured requests category and I will link that to our internal issue tracker for EasyBlog 5.1
