Hello,

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

Hello Jason,

I have just tested this and it seems to be working pretty fast for me as it only takes about 1 second for the notification popup to show up. Not really sure what you meant by slow though?

Hello Jason,

I am sorry for the late reply.
I have checked your site and it seems like your site is using System Notification, Friend Notification and Conversation Notification are set to 30 second pooling interval. Because of this mod_easysocial_menu interval_notification_system is using the EasySocial Core setting, I have helped you set these settings to 10 second. You can configure this at: Joomla > Components > EasySocial > Settings > Alert. Can you verify it for me is this issue is resolved?

Looking forward to hear from you again.
Hope this will work.
Thanks.

Hello Jason,

I think there is some misunderstanding here. The "counter" will only be updated when the ajax calls runs in the back end. I guess the problem / issue here is when you mark everything as read, it's still not hiding the counter because the ajax script that is running on the background is still not updating it yet. I will add this as a bug fix into the next release of EasySocial

Ah, this is a good thread. I look forward to improvements of the notifications module's AJAX calls and counter. I am hoping that one of these days we get an option to have the counter reset to 0 the moment you click on the notification, rather than requiring people to click on mark as read. On Facebook, the button exists but we never have to click mark as read to remove the counter.

Hello Jason,

It's actually the same issue even on Wanderers because our script is configured to update the "counter" every 10 seconds. So whenever you mark everything as read, what actually happens is that coincidentally, the ajax response that happens after you click on "Mark all as read" takes a couple of seconds hence it feels as though the counter is updated instantaneously.
