Same issue AGAIN - PLEASE TAKE MORE CARE WITH THIS AS IT HAS A MASSIVE SEO IMPACT.

I was very grateful to get the 'add follow' setting for links in blog content. It's vitally important if you have a lot of links to manage this attribute for SEO reasons.

My issue is now since upgrade I am seeing that links are not being rendered properly.

Links should be default 'nofollow' but now default is norefferer and nooppener which I don't like.

Can I ask why you decided to do this? I do normally check the change log but did not see any notification about this.

Further Info

Nofollow works as is supposed to IF you do not select 'open in a new window'. This is the wrong logic. Open in a new window should not change the follow vs nofollow attribute.

Please fix/revert whatever you have done. Overnight you will make link farms start to happen.
Hey there,

May I know which blog post is having this issue so that we can have a better look and check of it?

Also, can you provide us with your FTP access so that we can have a better check of it if needed?

GDPR is pretty frustrating so I can't allow site access legally. And I like to respect peoples privacy and the law.

It's quite frustrating to be asked to have access all the time. I hope you guys and start to see this at some point. Not just stackideas but support across the web same same.

The fact is you will be able to replicate this in the time it has taken us both to compose these 2 messages.

So would appreciate that you test on your own systems first before resorting to asking for access by default. When you can recreate locally it is also easier to work on the fix. I used to develop myself a long time ago now- probably why I am more frustrated than I should be?

So can I ask for you to do some testing on your own site first? Is that ok.

Thank you for understanding helping me to respect GDPR.

Steps to reproduce:

Create a text link in a standard text block.
Test the check boxes available under the link.
In both combinations see how the check box changes the values.
Desired result is open in a new window does not change the follow (in fact ANY) attribute as it is not related.

I am not looking forward to a boilerplate response such as " if we can't get your login we cant help..."

Thank You and excuse the micro rant.

Initially, from what I understand, I thought you were referring to link block and I don't see the attribute that you reported in it so that is why I asked which blog post is having this issue and for the access as well so that we can have a better check of it.

Steps to reproduce:

Create a text link in a standard text block.
Test the check boxes available under the link.
In both combinations see how the check box changes the values.
Desired result is open in a new window does not change the follow (in fact ANY) attribute as it is not related.

Thanks for the step and I get what do you mean now.

When 'open a new page' is ticked, norefferer and nooppener will be added into the rel attribute to fix the open a new tab(_blank) vulnerability and it has been like this since EasyBlog 5.1. https://take.ms/SZMn1

You can check it out for more info about it here. https://www.reliablesoft.net/noreferrer-noopener/

For your information, if you enable this setting as shown in the screenshot, all links generated from within the content will have nofollow in the rel attribute. https://take.ms/SZMn1

This is still not working. Please can someone investigate.

If I select nofollow attribute then in ALL CASES this should have a nofollow attribute.

This is a such a bad thing for SEO so I am looking for your help to fix it. I don't want to have to edit 1000+ links manually.

The solution above is not related to my OP.

"When 'open a new page' is ticked, norefferer and nooppener will be added into the rel attribute to fix the open a new tab(_blank) vulnerability and it has been like this since EasyBlog 5.1. https://take.ms/SZMn1"

This is a separate matter.

I did dev support myself once upon a time.

We never tried to play ticket tennis.

We always tried to replicate the steps given on our development servers. It was quicker for everyone.

ALL BLOG POSTS HAVE ISSUES.

Sorry I am getting frustrated with this it's been going on for too long now.

Honestly, I just tried a few blog posts, and mostly are looking fine for me.

Here's are the few blog posts that I just took a look:
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/designing-your-perfect-home-office-space
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/bright-coloured-jeans-women-s-fashion-for-spring-summer-2013-revealed
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/shop-summer-essentials-ideas-for-you
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/adorn-your-look-with-these-fashionable-shawl-scarves
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/your-guide-to-inflatable-sup-isup-stand-up-paddle-boarding
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/gym-outfits-for-women
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/6-bad-lifestyle-habits-that-affect-your-skin-health
- https://style-review.com/you-blog/entry/10-essential-spring-gardening-tasks

Only the first 2 posts still have 'follow' attribute instead of 'nofollow' attribute on the hyperlinks even though the 'Insert No-follow Attributes In Hyperlinks' setting is enabled which is correct is because 'Insert follow attribute' has been ticked for it as shown in the screenshots:

- https://monosnap.com/file/JCzR2lSOUIA7Qn7CVlYweqCqqaZSTD

So I noticed that there is only 1 blog post that does not have 'nofollow' attribute on the hyperlinks even though the 'Insert follow attribute' is not being ticked as shown in the screenshot https://monosnap.com/file/jkHyj761QxNs6whbXYnVRJPPvgsfYv but I am not able to replicate it on my local as shown in the video. https://monosnap.com/file/6EmZPtDdr05tvrC03XVmz8176bpWT5

If this is still not, can you please share which blog post is having the issue and pinpoint it directly with a screenshot so that we can have a better understanding of it?

By the way, can you please provide us with the FTP access so that we can check directly on your site?

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Irwin

I'm thankful that you took some time to understand the issue. It seems like the open new window is causing the logic in the nofollow to not be applied. So these that have open new window become follow and no one wants them to be follow.

Instead of setting the attribute = "noopener noreferrer"

it should be attribute +="noopener noreferrer" but I don't think thi will work as the nofollow is added after- except it isn't.

I hope this explains the issue now.

Steps

1. Settings to make all links no follow- from the global settings.
2. In the specific link setting set to open new window
3 check and see the link is follow, this is not correct.

Thank you.

After long debugging, we noticed that your string.php from JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easyblog/includes/string/string.php is very different from the original string.php file which caused the issue on your site.

Have you customized this file before?

If no, you can download and paste the attached string.php file at the location that I mentioned earlier for the fix.

Thank you very much this now gives me back control of the links.

I don't understand why when the official fix came in my custom code was not replaced. But I will mark as solved.
