I was updating EasyBlog to a newer version, but the process somehow got stuck, it stopped by 10%, and continued, but nothing happened.
I was not able to stop the proces. I refreshed the site, but after this I couldn't get into the backend again.
When I log in as administrator in the backend I only see a white page.
I don't know what to do now as I have no access to the whole of my site.
[The site http://www.levensmozaiek.nl is still online.]
I do hope that you can help me?
Hello Johan,

It seems like you are downloading the easyblog categories module from our download page. The module that you download is not compatible with easyblog 5 as the module is actually installed together during the easyblog 5 installation. However I've made a copy of easyblog categories module that are compatible with easyblog 5 and installed it directly on your site. Everything is working fine now, http://screencast.com/t/HThifeqr .

Hope these help.

Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?

Mark,
I checked it, and it is because there is a whitelist of the hostserver for the FTP-access.
In order to make it possible for you I have to add the country from where you are working,
and also I would need your IP-adres.
This I have to add to the whitelist, and then it should be possible for you to work with the FTP.

Thanks, Mark,
I adjusted the whitelist and send it to the server. It might take some time before it is set.
I remember I had to do the same while being in Germany. It took some time before
being approved..
Thank you so much for your care, and many greetings from at present a very tropical Netherlands.

Hi Johan & Mark

Sorry for crashing this thread but Johan if you do not mind me asking who is your hoster?
I have also being having some recent growing pains. Basically the bottom line for me (now at Siteground) is that SI change there IPs constantly for security reasons and Siteground (for e.g.) wants IP address for admin access...

greetings from a very tropical Germany

Hello Mark, this is what I was afraid of. It took more than a day before I could use the FTP from Germany. I could choose for giving a range of IPadresses on the host, starting with the one you gave me.

Thank you also, Paul, for coming in.
I also contacted the hostserver about possibilities to make the access a little easier.
With a little despair and yet trust that there will be a solution many greetings for now!
(By the way, I am Claudia, a collegue from Johan )

Hello Johan,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

We are still unable to access your ftp unfortunately due to the incorrect credentials given . May I know if you can somehow edit your configuration.php file from your joomla root folder and search for the following string,
public $error_reporting = '[Your current value]';
// change it to
public $error_reporting = 'maximum';

http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-07-02_1243.png . After that try to access your administrator area. It should return you some sort of error message and it will be easier for us to identify the problem. Please advise.

Hello Ezrul,
the credentials I've given are o.k., only it takes time before my hostserver has registered the ip-adres and country on the whitelist (while working in Germany it took about 2 days before I had access to FTP).

Now I've done what you suggested, changing the value into 'maximum' - but still, the same: no error-message, just a perfect white page

Hi Johan

Also on the front end?
No error message?
Up top above your Site?

I will now gracefully exit this thread until it is solved

Hello Johan,

Hm. There are lots of possibilities of why it return white page during the login to your administrator area. Without FTP its quite hard to guess the root issue that you might have currently. To make it worse, our office ip address will constantly changing due to security reason and I'm afraid by the time your webhosting already approve the ip address, our office ip address will change. By the way I have some idea regarding on the issue that you are facing but not really sure if this will help.

Access your ftp and go to your /components/com_easyblog folder. Inside the folder create a new folder name "helpers". After that go inside the helpers folder and upload the attachment below.

Looking forward to your response.

Hello Ezrul,
maybe it is worthwhile for you to try once more to log in to the FTP. I could set a range of ip-adresses, maybe this works now?

===

I did what you suggested and found already a folder with the name "helpers". In the attachment you see the content of het folder.
There also was a file "helper.php". You find it also as an attachment.
I changed this file with the one you were sending, but still, the same.
In the hope that this might help you, and I am aware how difficult it is, also because I am not a professional,
hoping for your not giving up.

Hello Johan,

The ftp is still not working for us here and we can't assist you if we don't have the FTP access. Anyway, try to rename the folder /plugins/user/easyblogusers/ to a different name.

Hello Mark,

you are great! I renamed the folder, and I can log in to my backend/poweradmin again.

But now: what to do with the EasyBlog? And to make it work again?

=== with regard to the FTP-access: it just needs a day or sometimes two before it is accepted

Hello Johan,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I am able to access your administrator area now and disable easyblog users plugins for now. May I know the issue occur after you tried to update your easyblog version to version 5? I noticed from your backend your easyblog version still showing version 3.9, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-07-08_1119.png .

I also notice that your current upload_max_filesize, memory_limit and post_max_size value from your php.ini is too low. In order for the easyblog 5 installation to run smoothly, can you consult with your webhosting service provide to increase the following to higher value, and then try to install it again?
1) memory_limit to 256M
2) upload_max_filesize to 64M
3) post_max_size to 64M

Looking forward to your response.

Hello Ezrul,

yes, the issue happened during the upgrading to the newer version.
The proces stagnated and I couldn't get out of it.
In the meantime I could adjust the php.ini with the higher values.
What is the next step to do now?
Thanks so much!

Hi Johan,

I am sorry for the late reply,

Can you ask your webhosting provide to update the following to:
1) memory_limit to 256M
2) upload_max_filesize to 64M
3) post_max_size to 64M

After that, you can continue installing Easyblog5 on your site.

If you have anymore question, please do not hesitate to ask us here.
Have a nice day.

Hello Mohd,
I was out for some days, but now am back, and my question is:
I could adjust the memory_limit, the upload_max_filesize and the post_max_size.
It may be a silly question, and yet:
the easyblog user plugins are still disabled - in order to updat Easyblog to the newest version, can I simply enable it again,
and then upgrade it to Easyblog5?

I am just a bit traumatized and afraid that the whole thing might collaps again?

Hey Johan,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. You don't really need to re-enable the plugin again as installing / upgrading to EasyBlog 5, would automatically fix this. Perhaps if you can provide us with the back end and FTP access, we'll assist you with the upgrade

Hello Mark,
I am grateful if you can assist me.
What you need to get into the back end you see in the site details.
The FTP is now again the problem, because then I need your IP-adres again and by the time the hostserver accepts it, you have most probably again a new one.

When you are in the backend of my site, you notice, that when you click on the component EasyBlog, you find a white page. I have now access again to my backend, but not yet to my EasyBlog
In order to get access to my backend again you suggest to rename a folder: "try to rename the folder /plugins/user/easyblogusers/ to a different name"
Most probable, I have to give him via FTP his original name again?

Hello Johan,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've helped you with the easyblog 5 installation and disabled the following module on your site, "Blog Categorie" since the module is actually getting override via template override thus returning some error. You can access your blog by clicking on "Mijn Blog" menu item from your homepage.

Hello Johan,

You are most welcome. Yes it is possible to make it visible again. I believe you need to rename the following folder, mod_easyblogcategories inside the /templates/jsn_decor_pro/html/mod_easyblogcategories/ into a different name and then try to publish the module again from backend.

I donwloaded again the file from StackIdeas, received the message from backend installer that it is installed sucessfully, but still: I can't find the module...?

I renamed that folder,
I finally found the Easyblog Categories module, but when I publish it, my blog isn't accessible any more. (just white page).
