My team and I have been working on a template similar to that of the one here at StackIdeas. This is something that many people have request. If your interested in obtaining our template or have interest in testing it for yourself in the next week or two please let me know.

Video Sample: http://screencast.com/t/6Im0xg21G

Please understand that we are still working out a few issues and we want to make sure the template works for everyone. Once the testing begins we will provide you with a link to the demo site.

In the mean time feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Thanks,
James
Thanks for sharing this James It does look good!

@Barbu, thank you!
@Sam, thank you!
@Jannik, thank you!
@Manuel, thank you!

To all, we do intend to share the template but for a small fee. The fee will be a subscription fee to help initial development cost as well as future development cost to keep it maintained as EasyDiscuss grows and changes. We intend to provide additional templates as well for other StackIdeas Components as well as a few apps, modules and plugins which I can't reveal the details of just yet.

As soon as the template is done I will push it to our demo site for you all to test and if you like it you may purchase it. Again, for a small (minimal) fee.

Thanks,
James

James,

Watched the teaser video of your exciting new template. AWESOME! It contains a wish list of features for EasyDiscuss, and this will fit perfectly into my site to satisfy our users. Include me on your list of purchasers and beta testers.

@Randall, thank you!

I too find the interface of the forum here to be rather pleasing on the eyes.

Aside from the current layout, view are there any feature request anyone might have? I would like to go ahead and get a couple of them in if we can on the initial release. If they are too large of a request they will have to be considered for a later release or as a custom project. But our capabilities are limitless.

By the way, it looks really similar to our forums I think it's more appropriate that there should be a note somewhere that it's inspired by our forums?

Well done @james it's piqued my interest. Where do we signup for a Beta? FYI here's an image of what appears to be extraneous chars in sub-category items --- but how cool is it to expand and see that in context well done.

Can you share more with us?

  • how long has the team been together
  • are you monetizing what you've done for your particular biz to the ES community or focusing all-out as a 3rd-party developer?
  • give us some teasers on your apps, plugins, and modules? what general areas do they target -- what's the need you see?

@Eileen, thank you.

The beta will be available hopefully by the end of next week.
Thank you for reporting the issue with the bullets, we are working on this (will likely have other issues depending on joomla template provider).

Questions:
- I have personally been working with Joomla for 9 years since it was Mambo. My primary focus has been Design and CSS. About 3 years ago while working on a special project with a client I met two guys who are awesome. Since then we have become friends and business partners.
- Regarding monetization, there is an old saying "Time is Money" which has never been more true. We are hoping to launch ourselves into a business and with that being said yes the intention is to make money, but at doing what we love and that common interest that united us "Joomla!". We do intend to release some free items but I can't disclose any information regarding that yet.
- Teaser, these will have to wait unfortunately. Some of these items are user requested here at the forum as well as with other 3rd Party Extension Developers.

Hopefully I answered your questions well. I know I didn't answer all of them completely but I assure you we will be releasing some pretty cool things!

@James, I've come to appreciate your insights and contributions in the forums it's great to see you've partnered with others to add offerings to the ES "ecosystem" it's a great time to be working with Joomla. Looking forward to learning more and will be keeping an eye on the thread...

Hello Paul,

I am really sorry but we don't have any updates on the template yet at this point of time but as soon as we are done with EasyBlog 5, we'll be working on a couple of templates for EasyDiscuss

Mark,

I've been working on a template for ED that's similar (and by that, I mean almost identical to yours ) on my local server. I think it's probably because I like the the simplicity of it. It's not as sophisticated as yours, but it also tries to keep things simple and easy to use. This is powered by Joomlart's T3B3 template (see screenshots). I believe it's a total of 10 custom files in the template's HTML folder and custom CSS, but if you'd like I can bundle it all together and send it your way once you start working on templates for EasyDiscuss.

Thanks

I'll try to get things bundled together for later this week.

I use unique CSS classifications for naming things to avoid potential conflicts, but with Firebug or Chrome's inspector, it should make sense to those trying to apply it.

Also Mark,

I wanted to run it by you first to make sure you're OK with doing so, since the design is your concept

If anyone would like to give it a try, please let me know. It's based on the T3B3 blank template, but as long as bootstrap & font-awesome are part of your template, it should work well.

Is the template posted by @Justin the same template referred to by @James, or are these separately developed templates?

@Justin, no worries this is a community driven forum so its all good.

We have been extremely busy with some other projects including several Virtuemart modifications as well as our JReviews Notification Component so the template unfortunately has been on the back burner. We also didn't receive as much excitement as we originally anticipate.

Thanks,
James

Here is a copy of the template files if anyone is still interested.

You need to have the EasyDiscuss Flex template enabled in your EasyDiscuss installation.
To make the changes, you will need to upload these files to: yourtemplate/html/

This should do the trick. There may be some compatibility issues between our main Joomla! template and yours as we are using a T3 template and that's what we have done our testing with.

Regardless I hope some others get some use out of it.

Thanks,
James
