I have a blog that I've set up, and some of the members on the users list are getting multiple emails when Easyblog notifies them of a blog post. The emails all come from the admin email user, but it's completely random who gets the multiple emails. Some days it's one person, on other days it's another. Sometimes it's 3 emails, and some people have even complained about getting 5!

I did a search, and saw that this question - or a similar one - had already been asked, but I can't see the answer because your forums say that I don't have a current subscription, but we just paid for another one last month.

FYI - I'm running EasyBlog 3.9.15370 and Joomla 2.5.19

Thanks,

Dave
Hello David,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. May I know how is the current cron setup on the site? Did you enable "Send email on page load" or are you running on a cron service?

I was looking at the idea of a cron setup, but I'm not sure if I can do that with my current provider (1and1.com). It seems that I can't unless I spend a lot of extra money to get the "managed server" setup, which I really don't want to do. I did have "Send email on page load" turned on (I believe it was on by default. I was wondering if that might have been the problem. Should that be on or off?

And thanks for your quick reply! I honestly didn't expect anything until Monday, and then I forgot to respond to you yesterday. Sorry!

Thanks for your help.

Hello David,

There could be issues when this particular option is enabled especially when you have quite a big traffic accessing the site. My suggestion for you is to try to get cronjob provider like http://setcronjob.com or try moving out from 1and1 . Most hosting providers these days already provides cronjob access and it really doesn't overload the server in any way. I guess it's just a way for 1and1 to monetize from users

Thanks for the info - I'll take a deeper look into this. But before I do, can you point me to some documentation or some general information about the "Send Email on Page Load" option and how I could possible use it (or not) depending on what we want?

Thanks!

No problem David, let me know what the outcome is. When you enable "Send email on page load", this basically means that if there's a visitor that is visiting your blog, EasyBlog will process email notifications that are pending. Now, imagine if your site is busy and there's 2 user that is simultaneously accessing EasyBlog page. Chances are that you will eventually receive duplicated emails.
