Hi SI Users

In all fairness “jan!” needs to get the credit for this as he mentioned it about a week ago.
It is very likely that "Eileen" mentioned this as well at some point but frankly I can not remember.

I have a test “Moodle” set up here:
http://www.finalbug.net/moodle/
And have different accounts set up, manager, teacher, student etc.
Also two test courses with video content linked from Vimeo.

I am struggling with integration of Moodle with Joomdle:
http://www.joomdle.com
There is detailed documentation but there are about 15 things that you can do wrong.
http://www.joomdle.com/wiki/Main_Page
Some how I find it easier to follow this not so official documentation here:
http://jianmingli.com/wp/?p=10214
I still have not figured out which of the 15 things I messed up.
But I will figure it out sooner rather than later.

First impressions are that Moodle is:

+ Insanely powerful.
+ Has a whole universe of plugins etc to expand/customise it etc
+ Moodle itself is FREE and reasonably easy to install.

- Clunky & Involves a lot of scrolling and sub menus.
- Getting Moodle & Joomdel talking with each other is a pain in the rear end!
- Incredibly complex and overwhelming at first.

Here for eg is a guide to installing Moodle for Joomla 2.5:
Installing Moodle 2.5 on a remote web site
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwwfPytZBGM

State of play:

I am kind of thinking that I will have this integrated within weeks rather than months.
And am happy to share my experience if any one is interested.
Also I am also happy in hearing from other peoples experience with Moddle/Joomldle and ES?

all the best

Paul

Here are some further interesting links that I have found:

PS I am putting this in the "General" category in the hope that any one can read this regardless of plan!
Thanks for sharing your experience and feedback with us Paul. If there's anyone else who feels inclined to, don't hesitate and feel free to share with us any experience you have with Moodle/Joomdle and ES by leaving your comments here.

Update:

I have Moodle integrated in Joomla.
It was one of the trickiest things that I have set up to date.
Definitely slow but it works!

Next up Easy Social integration...

Thanks Paul for the invite and for the share,
i purchased recently a pro version of Guru from ijoomla, the new version looks better but no easysocial inetgration yet

i like this extension because its a native joomla component and no need to install a second CMS.

Great job !you've done great job, hope you create plugins or extensions can the community use
on our website our members need only a section for courses, we dont need an advanced integration for that we choose guru. Hope it will work correctly with ES.

Thanks ssnobben,

i already checked king-lms, i didnt tested it perhaps its a good LMS but when i visit the website and demo i can say that was developped for pervious century, UX is horrible, i personally as student cant use it.

Even with easysocial integration, user experience is before all.
(many of link in the home page are not working).

Hi SIers

In case any one is interested I believe that I can now say that I have Easy Social & Moodle integrated and working perfectly on my site. It was hell on earth setting it up.

- Moodle is insanely complex.
- Joomdle is twisted
- Integration is about as unintuitive as it gets

Buttttttt it works and is really, really, really powerful!

If any one is interested in taking a look:

guest user:moodle123
p-word:moodle123

I would also love to hear from any one else using Moodle in here?

best

Hi,

And I also have Joomla configured with Moodle through Joodle and the extension that I found easier to configure and with more features (compared to other stores) is EventBooking.
It's great!

Hi,
For me, events are courses.
I had to make some changes in the language.
In eventbooking I use the paypal, stripe and payment by transfer plugins.
When you pay by card, you are automatically enrolled in the moodle course, you can enter the course, and receive the welcome email configured from Eventbooking.

In this link you can see how the information that joomdle automatically takes from moodle is displayed at the top. And in the lower part the eventbook registration form:
