Migration from "Discussions" Forum Component

Hi,

I am currently moving a Joomla website from the 2.5 version to the newer version 3. The current website we have is running a component called "Discussions" for the forum. During the upgrade process, I have found that there has not been/and will not be a version of Discussions available for Joomla 3. It was developed by Codingfish.

Is there an easy way to migrate our current "Discussions" forum including users, posts, and categories to the EasyDiscuss component?

The users of the forum are from the Joomla Users. There are approximately 670 forum posts and 7 categories that these posts are entered in.

I currently use the EasyBlog software on our current and new development website for our blog component and we love how it works. I hope to be able to use the EasyDiscuss one as well

Hello Scott,

I'm sorry but currently there is no migrator for Discussions. However, can you provide us the access to the site that has this component and also it would be helpful if you can provide us phpmyadmin access so that we can see the table structure for the Discussions and we will inform you whether it is possible or not. And if it is possible, this is considered a custom work from us which you can have a quote from our Sales department.

Hi Nick,

I just went ahead and purchased the EasyDiscuss Unlimited component. I could not see your answer on the forum because all I had was EasyBlog premium support.

I have the Discussions Forum installed on the new Joomla 3 website but it is currently disabled. I would have no issues in paying for the custom support on this if it can be accomplished successfully.

I also just installed the new EasyDiscuss Forum to the Joomla 3 site as well.

I am trying to move the forum posts, the categories and the users. I already have the users as both the Discussions and EasyDiscuss components use the Joomla users.

we have the same problem. We also want to migrate our current posts from the Joomla Komponent "Discussions" to EasyDiscuss.

We actually already added this Discussion migrator in next release version of Easydiscuss.

If you need it now, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you on this?

By the way, please backup all of you data from your database regarding the Discussion post.

We are currently does not have the timeframe to release a newer version of easydiscuss yet. But I believe it will be soon. If you want the migrator now, you can provide us with your joomla backend and FTP access so we can directly add the features on your site.

Hi,

we solved it by ourself.
Using this instruction http://macrotoneconsulting.co.uk/Macrotone-Blogs/converting-joomla-forum-from-discussions-to-kunena.html

For this we convert our forum from "Discussions" to "Kuena" and then we used your migrator to import the entries.
