I'm hoping to build a menu that will display the category structure in EasyDiscuss to have better control of how the sub-category/child items display, vs the EasyDiscuss module showing all categories and sub categories. The issue I'm running into is the URL output difference between the category module vs, the menu module (see attached images).

The URL output (which I'd like to keep) when clicking "Category A" in the category module shows as:

/discussions/categories/listings/category-a

The URL output when click the menu link that points to Category A using the Single Category option when building the menu with the EasyDiscuss options shows as:

/category-a

I have the SEO set to use the menu itemID in EasyDiscuss's settings, so I'm not sure if I'm missing another setting somewhere else.

Thanks.

EDIT - I forgot to include the site details ... updated now.
Update - Sorry Arlex,

I realized that not having the main frontpage link to discussions in the Category Menu was causing the issue. The downside is that the secondary frontpage link requires a unique alias, so that also causes confusion.

Instead of trying to recreate a custom menu to mimic how your forum menu works I'll have to wait and see if a future update to the categories module will allow for an active category's sub-categories to display only.

Sorry for the confusion - you can close or remove this thread.

hello Justin,

Sorry for late reply to this,
I have help you set the SEO setting to -> Use Menu ItemId Determined By EasyDiscuss
So that it will display on this format -> /category-a
Please have a look.

Hi Arlex,

I think I didn't explain properly. It's more the breadcrumbs that I'm having issues with and not the URL - my apologies.

I'd like to keep the more traditional structure of "Home > Discussions (forum) > Category > Post" that shows in the breadcrumbs. With forums I think it's important that the path to the thread show properly for the user. Initially, a direct menu link to a category removes the "Discussions" out of the breadcrumbs, so the user may see "Home" as the discussions home-page when that's not the case (and the category displays twice in the breadcrumbs ... like "Home > Category A > Category A").

With the SEO set to "Determined by ED", the breadcrumbs show a double display of category/sub-category and "Discussions" isn't part of it (see "user_id_determined.jpg attached).

With the SEO set to "Menu ID", the breadcrumbs show the proper structure and the category list module uses the proper structure regardless of whether the user is on an ED related page or elsewhere on the site (see "menu_id.jpg" attached). A menu item that's directly linked to a category, however, does not show the standard breadcrumb path.

Thanks
