Hi!

Is there a way to manually trigger Remote Storage? If possible, specifically Group Albums?

Thanks,

Jackson
Hi,

There is a cron that is responsible to do this. Cron are basically just links that you execute in a specific period of time, which means technically you can manually load the cron link (provided that remote storage is on).

Hi Jason,

The reason I asked is because everytime I manually run the cron, I am getting:

"No photos to upload to Amazon S3 right now."

This is related to my post Remote Storage Amazon S3 Album Photos not uploaded.

My webserver is running out of disk space and someone created an albums in Group (Middle School) and uploaded tons of photos. For some reason, all of that photos are not being uploaded to S3. Is there any switch in photos for the system to know that is has been uploaded to S3? Maybe, something was wrong with the previous version that is not triggering it.

I would really appreciate your help on this Jason, if you can please.

Thank you!

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

I am really sorry about that! I have been dying to get to your forum post to check on your issue but I don't actually have the time right now as I am already so occupied with tons of inquiries on the forums itself. I will look into your thread and reply accordingly

Hi Mark,

No worries I understand you're busy with 2 major products on dev and 1 bonus template

Anyways, FYI, I renamed the Storage path back to default because I was thinking maybe something is wrong with that new feature the ability to change local storage path with S3 but apparently it's not the issue.

Looking forward to get it fixed and make my webserver happy again my home volume now is at 92% used.

Thanks,

Jackson

Sorry to hear that please don't injure your hands or fingers cause if you can't type, dev will slowdown kidding aside I hope all is well. Praying for your fast recovery!

Anyhow, I'm just noticing that the newly created users avatar are now in S3, so it is working. I also just tried to create a new Album and uploaded a photo, it is being uploaded to S3. I guess my problem is with old photos that were not uploaded.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

I guess the problem is actually because your old photos had issues when it was uploading over to S3 and because we keep a log of items that are already uploaded, they probably was inserted into the log table and it doesn't get uploaded again.

Mark,

Any news on this? I checked the DB table for photos #__social_photos and there is a column named Storage, the photos that I'm having issues with have joomla value in it. If this is a simple DB update, please point me to which one that needs to be updated and I'll try to do it myself.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

I have cleared the log table for items that has already failed. Can you see if they are being transferred correctly to Amazon now?

P/S: We're going through a very difficult time right now accessing international sites right now because an undersea cable which is supposed to be one of the gateways that our ISP uses to connect out of Asia.

Thanks for understanding.

Hi Mark,

It seems to be working, since the number of photos that has been uploaded is crazy it will take some time.

Last question about S3 Storage, does ES supposed to delete the local file after it has been uploaded? I'm still seeing the files that are already in S3 in the local folders.

Thanks,

Jackson

Thanks for the heads up on this Jackson It will delete some all except the main original file as that particular file is used for resizing / rotating.

Hi Mark,

It's been 3 days after you made the upload to S3 worked I guess all of the pictures has been uploaded. I looked at several photos randomly and all are linked to S3. Unfortunately, there is another issue, ES did not delete some of the files like you said. My server disk space has not changed, and looking at around 20 albums, all of the photos resized images are still in the folders. There are 6 versions of each Photos including the _original.

Is there a way to trigger ES to do file management on Photo Albums manually?

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

Hm, this is odd. If the photo was successfully uploaded to Amazon, the file should be deleted on the site unless there are permission issues which prevents the file deletion to occur.

Hi Mark,

How do I check for permission issue? Does ES have log that I can check? My webserver has the default folder/file permission 755/644.

FYI, just confirmed that the new uploads I'm doing does not delete the files after it has been uploaded to S3.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

I am still looking into this right now as it seems like some of the files did not get removed when it gets pushed to the server.
