I am sorry for the delay of this reply. Correct me if I'm wrong, do you mean you want change the url custom field to be able to append http://www.twitter.com/NAME by user only type their name (see attached images) and display it on their profile ?Actually this fall under customization . However I'll try in what you want to achieve here. Can you download the file attached and replace it in the folder:
JOOMLA_FOLDER/media/com_easysocial/apps/fields/user/widgets/profile/view.html.php
and see how it goes?

Thanks for considering this. It would be a pretty standard requirement these days.

That folder did not exist on my site. I created the folder, added the file. When creating URL field and adding the twitter name, the URL on front end simply became http://name

There was a folder:

media/com_easysocial/apps/fields/user/url/widgets/profile/view.html.php

Adding your file made no difference.

Instead, I edited:

media/com_easysocial/apps/fields/user/url/url.php

using the attached version.

JOOMLA_FOLDER\media\com_easysocial\apps\fields\user\url\widgets\profile\view.html.php
I've tested this in my local seems working fine. Did your fix in attached file above achieve what you want?
