Anyone know of a solution to subscribe to a specific category (sub-category). The current subscribe module is only for the site.
Hello Cinthia,

Please make sure that you had set in Joomla Backend > EasyBlog > Settings > Workflow > Subscription(tab)
Allow category subscriptions = Yes

Thanks:)

Thank You, this is the option I have on. But in specific areas of my site I want people to subscribe (not blog). The module subscription only allows for the site subscription and I need something like that for a specific category. Hope this makes it clearer

Hello Cinthia Stafford,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.
Unfortunately that was no specific option to select category subscription in the current module

This is a bummer. I was hoping to create what amounts to two blogs in a new site I'm building, but I want the subscriptions to be separate, and I want to use the email subscription module in the side bar not the one added at the top of the blog (I think it looks better).

Any suggestions?

Hello Brian,

We do have a module for user to subscribe. You can find it in our download page: http://stackideas.com/downloads. However, we don't have the feature where user can choose which category they want to subscribe.

Exactly, I'm already using the subscription module because it looks nice. I just wanted to be able to use TWO of them, for two different categories on 2 different pages. Sadly, I can't.

Hello Brian,

It can be done but with a hack to it. If you really need it, you can provide us your FTP and Backend access. Also specify which page you want both modules to appear.

I ended up just using articles for my other section instead of EasyBlog so it's not an issue now. Thanks though!

Hi Nik,

I would also like this functionality.

I have two blogs on my site:

1. Blog (Easyblog category called "Blog") - http://dev.teenstreet.org.au/blog

2. Events (Easyblog category called "Events") - http://dev.teenstreet.org.au/events

In the sidebar of these two pages I have installed the Subscribe module, and I would like the one on the Blog page to ONLY subscribe to the "Blog" category and the one on the Events pages to ONLY subscribe to the "Events" category.

I have attached my site details and would really appreciate if you could help me out.

Cheers

Ian

Hello Ian,

I've modified your file: ../modules/mod_easyblogsubscribe/tmpl/default.php. Please give it a try.

For those who want to have same feature, please replace the attached file.

Hi Nik,

Thanks very much, that's fantastic

Can you help me with something else?

In the confirmation email sent to the subscriber, I don't want /categories/[category_name] at the end of the url link in body of the email.

For example, for the "Blog" category, the link just needs to be dev.teenstreet.org.au/blog.

And for the "Events" category, the link just needs to be dev.teenstreet.org.au/events. See attached pics.

Also, I would like to change the unsubscribe link. At the moment it goes to /blog/latest. Is it possible for the "Blog" category unsubscribe link to go to /blog and for the "Events" category unsubscribe link to go to /events?

Thanks for your help.

Ian

Hello Ian,

I've fixed the URL for you and also the redirection after unsubscribe. Please have a look.

I've downloaded the customised default.php and inserted as an override, however I'm not clear from the code how/where we choose the category to which people are subscribed?

In our case we only want people subscribed to a specific category each time so should I replace the ID of that category somewhere?

Hello Simon,

Looks like the file is using the old version which need a further check on it. Can you create a new thread and provide us your backend and FTP access?

Hey Theo,

Nick is one of our developer in Stackideas.

Perhaps you can start a new thread in our forums so we can assist you on the Easyblog installation issue?

Regarding the modification, I assume you would like to request customisation in your site regarding the Easyblog, perhaps you can elaborate more details what you want to customise and post this request into our sales section at https://crm.stackideas.com and our sales department would get back to you with a proper quote.
